KISSING TILL TOMORROW.

The sun is dying my love
And soon the night shall have us.
Enrapt in silver moonlight.
The sun is dying my love
And in it's perfect swoon
We'll inter ourselves in loving linen
And kiss till morning comes.

This morning at my local mini market i bought some mushrooms.
"Good morning lover" said the till girl."How are you today darling?" "Beautiful day isn't it sweetheart?""That's 99 pee lover".
I handed over my money and said "Thanks desire of my heart".
She looked at me like i was mad.
As i turned to go i wiggled my eyebrows at another shopgirl who'd been observing this flood of endearments and smiled triumphantly "I won!" said i.
I rode a gail of laughter out the door.

Carol Ann Duffy was yesterday elected to the office of poet laureate, the first female to hold that position in the 350 or so years of it's existance and what is more important she is the first ever poet i actually rate to hold this position her predecessors being either hugely over-rated or one hit wonders (like Ted Hughes- who only ever wrote one good poem in his whole life and made a career of it) or incomprehensible and talentless like Andrew Motion.
The fact that she is Scottish in no way sways my opinion lol.
Here's one of my favourites of hers. If you don't love it then you have a heart of stone lol.

Words, Wide Night by Carol Ann Duffy

Somewhere on the other side of this wide night
and the distance between us, I am thinking of you.
The room is turning slowly away from the moon.

This is pleasurable. Or shall I cross that out and say
it is sad? In one of the tenses I singing
an impossible song of desire that you cannot hear.

La lala la. See? I close my eyes and imagine the dark hills I would have to cross
to reach you. For I am in love with you

and this is what it is like or what it is like in words.

Do not go into the light my love
Stay with this cold and this pain.
Don't lie down in the sun my sweet
Bathe in this worldly rain.
Don't sigh and say goodbye mon cher
Sit and count the last of your coin
Don't sign in to that club my darling
Till the day that i also can join.

Inked her name on a friendly skin.
Laid claim to a new possession.
Victory when her hopes were thin.
Ensured the monogomous line of succession.

Her name should make his spine tingle.
He must love her right down to the bone.
She must never, ever be single.
She will not, she cannot, be alone.

The Umbilical Chord is never cut
It is simply grafted from one female to another
And so the nurture of man continues,But
Sometimes the host rejects,
The pre-ordained role
Of
Mother.

Happy though they know not why.
Happy 'mongst the shadowed bowers.
Happy is the lovers sigh.

You and i don't suit,
We are inappropriate.
We stradle, so precarious.
The line of love and hate.
And when, one day we topple,
Which side will it be?
Your hand upon my testicles
Or will it be your knee?

Though i ken't sae much
I ken't sae little too,
And efter a' these years
She's ben ma heart still noo.
A' other lasses came and went.
Nae ither maids did tarry
Except thon one i promised to
But never took tae marry
