Today while I planted petunias into our front hanging baskets Mrs Robin decided it was time for her babies to vacate the nest. With tw0 plump babies in the bushes the third left the nest to join them. I wasn't able to get any decent pictures before the family departed the brush on a short flight across the road into the long grass of the ditch and corn field.

Dogs......... We have rescued some exceptional canines we collectively call MUTTs Inc.
Ruby, our Great Pyrenees, is going on 10 years old. A couple were getting divorced and neither could have a where they were going and Ruby would have been put down. In the first seconds when I met her she jumped up and gave me a big kiss .... She rode home in the Beemer and been here ever since.
Roxy, our Rottweiler, is JD's dog. She was to be be put down because of "F"ing city Law banning "Mean" dogs.... Yes she does rule the roost with an "Iron Paw' informing the other dogs how to behave. She has hip problems and needs assistance with steps.. We put in a ramp to the deck so she may transverse the incline without any problems. At night she is on JD's side of the bed on "Guard Duty" keeping all Boogiemen at bay.
Rosie, our quiet retired Greyhound. Rosie was injured while racing in Minnesota having won 60 of 70 races. We paid the Vet bills and brought her home Rosie is so reserved you'd never know she was even around till a cold nose touches your arm wanting ear rubbies. Her Brindle coloring blends in so well with our parlor oriental I have tripped over her not seeing her.
Ronnie.... my shadow is a Hungarian Vizsula... Ronnie was brought up from Texas, an unclaimed victim of a hurricane. He needed a home and selected me to provide it. Ronnie is probably as much mine as Roxy is JD's. He's absolutely devoted to me.... to the point we had to install locks to the bathroom doors so I could have a moment of privacy.
So much for "D" as in dog. Their company enriches our lives and brings us boundless joy. Each with their own talents and "personalities"

A vicious rumor has arisen that I might have acquired "Stolen Property "
To set the record straight; This poor orphan tree showed up in the back of a derelict pickup... What's a guy to do ? Just let it die unattended ? NOT ME !
I gave it a loving home where it will be cared for, nurtured, and well watered
This downy hawthorn (Crataegus mollis ) is the largest and most common of the hawthorns found in Iowa. It's Low spreading branches are similar to an apple tree.
They generally flower in May - June in our area. The fragrant blossoms are arranged in loose clumps. Right now you go outside and the air is sweet with the fragrance..
I don't know if the fruit is any good, however, the deer and birds enjoy them.

My cleaning gal was here today from until 5. I needed assist her quite a bit of the time and....
MUTTs Inc has NOT Helped NOW I a bunch of paperwork and financial CRAP deal with yet tonight because Tomorrow will be WASTED by the Drs at the hospital.

My front porch residents have Tw0 offspring so far. Upon opening the door I am greeted by hungry "Peeps" expecting to be fed.
I hoed the string beans I planted along the shed this morning. They are looking pretty good so far. I watered them at dusk.
My packet of Morning Glory seeds (Only 6 seeds) appear to be all growing... a bit clustered ... ooo well.
Roxy kept an eye on me as I did some landscaping in the back pen making certain I didn't screw around with her stuff.

Max & Alex left mid-afternoon and are home safely before the line of strong storms moves through. The trophy of my Shopping Binge with my friend; Alex is this hand blown Ruby Glass vase. Circa probably 1970's +/-
It is HUGE! !!! That is a 2 L Coke beside. I really don't have a clue what to even put in it. For the time being it is on JD's Baby Grand in the parlor.
News sources are claiming a national shortage of ribs since Max & Alex's stay with us. Also claimed are the Barbaric table manners whilst devouring the ribs likened to Henry VIII just tossing the bones to the dogs gathered around the table.

We've been squandering money frivolously in rummage shoppes!
Alex and I might have over done it a bit.
But he loves driving the SLK with the top down too.
MUTTs Inc love all the extra attention and...............
The piles of ribs bones we seam to garner. We've had barbecued ribs twice since Max & Alex got here. Coupled with fries, baked beans, chips, Cole slaw and biscuits I will be putting those pounds I lost back on....
