G D Munday

Right from the get-go I should have turned around and gone back to bed. I had a limb down in the yard from the high winds and storm that passed through over the weekend. I tossed my walker onto the hood of the JD425 hitched the wagon to it along with the small electric chain saw. The electric cord I unreeled as I drove... plug in the chain saw and POOFT the G D Cord connection burned up !

BLOGABLE! Here's how to repair a burned out power cord. On the farm we keep several "male" and "female" power cord ends so we don't have to drive into town to get one. I took my dikes and cut the burned up end OFF !

Place the retaining cap over the end of the cord.

Using a wire stripper cut away the insulation from your cord and your wires.

Connect your wires as follows; Green ground wire to the green screw, white wire to the silver screw, black wire to the brass screw.

Connect the wired plug inside the protective cap securely with the screws provided.... There you have it! A fast electric cord repair.

I also repaired my ice crusher... Just poured boiling water down the gear connection which had jammed up with ice.... A NEW Trick for me.... I once again have crushed ice in my Coke!

Ugggg Mmmmm You have a job then whenever you want to join up! I detest wiring and soldering... I'd like to do stained glass but the soldering is what distracts from taking it up.

Yes, I'm all to familiar with the failure of factory ends on extension cords. Like you, I keep several of the same replacement cord ends as you have. They work well and are easy to install.

You can always use the firewood, but the storms that bring down the limbs and trees are troublesome. You can use the rain for the growing season, so don't complain. Wish we could get even a single drop of rain here. I spent the last 2 days watering my grass. Now I hear there is 60% possible rain in the forecast come the weekend..

I had another busy day finishing the install of a used screen door at my place, going to the bank for cash, and battling with mortgage loan sharks who wouldn't accept a payment because they are starting foreclosure in 3 days. Such is life. Yester and today, I have also been helping a friend move stuff among his 3 places. Lots of heavy lifting, so I am tired to the bone and every muscle in my body is sore.

We have field work we need to be doing. The firewood is always handy. The G D Weather channel said no rain until 7-8 PM../. a "F"ing downpour at 5 PM drove us in the house.

The wet ground my G D walker sinks in making even harder to get anything done. JD had to run me into town.... New mouse.. seems a hammer fell on the old one. I also browsed Walmart meats... They have boneless skinless chicken thighs ! I bought two packs. Hy Vee you are stuck with the leg, skin and bones if you want thighs. I LOVE Thigh meat... I'd rather have them than breasts and they make great Mexican too.

Welcome to my world I don't remember how many plugs I've replaced like that, and on some much larger cable also.
