I didn't know.....

I didn't know tomorrow is National Linguine. Day I made it for our dinner tonight. Such aa beautiful evening we dined outside. That flat Italian pasta that means "little tongues". It is similar to fettuccine, but a little narrower.

Linguine originated in the Liguria region of Italy, where Genoa is the capital, most likely sometime after mechanical pasta presses were invented in the 1600's. Most often it accompanies pesto or seafood, which makes sense because it originated on coastal lands. It pairs well with light sauces that are cream or oil based.

I made us dinner rolls to go with it.

I will be having pasta tomorrow, but not linguine. I am fresh out of it in my pantry. It is somewhat difficult to obtain in the store I normally shop. I do love it.

It was cold here today. A high of only 51F because of a thick, smokey haze from CA and OR wildfires. Surface winds were light from the N. As of 9:11 pm, it is 44F. I have most all of the furnaces running in the 2 places I look after.

Must be a real feeling of accomplishment to brush the final touch-up strokes and put away all the tools of the momentous task. I wish I could see it in person, and maybe someday I will.
