I can but I can't. Thanks Mwens

Yesterday I wrote a Blog Why Love is Blind. All who commented have liked it. A first time visitor to My Blog Mr Mwens , a Dane, commented that it 'Explains a lot...'

I was but drawn to his Signature:

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

It is so very true. I have promised Ms Aloha about writing a Blog on Guruism in India and will discuss this at length. The signature reminded me of an experience in life drawn on similar lines:

At a young age I completed Mechanical Engineering, completed Management Post Graduation and started working in a MNC in Oil refining business. An enviable job indeed with training and assignments in Foreign countries. But the itch to start own business , made me chuck the job and of all things I set up a Chemical Processing Plant.

The chemical manufactured was an Import substitution product and had 50% market in Bulk Perfumery market and balance in the manufacture of Tear Gas.

We made an absolutely first class product. We sent the sample to the biggest Industrial Perfumery maker. An old man, who had started the company, was controlling only the Quality of raw materials procured. Our sample was rejected as it was reportedly not meeting the quality requirements.

Stunned by this rejection, I personally went to meet the old man- the Owner. For your information, a perfumer dips a strip of absorbent paper in the perfumery chemical. Shakes it and after a minute or so, sniffs it across the nose. The sniffing is repeated for 4-5 times and final nod or rejection is announced..

I explained to the old wise man that the chemical was tested in laboratory and was found to be 99+% pure - comparable to the imported French Chemical. The wise man again in our presence conducted sniff test and again nodded negative. Seeing the disappointment on my face. he patted my back, reminded me that I was venturing into perfumery business which was totally controlled by olfactory acceptance. Then he told me:

'Beta Aakash, you can make 100% pure product and may find the aroma pleasant and acceptable BUT UNFORTUNATELY YOU CANNOT SMELL THROUGH MY NOSE'. He then suggested some improvement measures and for years we enjoyed a healthy business relationship.

A lesson well learnt .

Thanks Mwens for your statement:
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
It reminded me of a similar situation, You can make the Best of Perfume but you can't smell it through my nose.
