I'm a rather shy guy, and not really into the bar or party scene. I much prefer a small gathering of friends around a board game at home, or possibly around a pool table or at a bowling alley. I like to lie to myself and believe that I'm good at board games, pool and bowling, so you can at least get a good laugh at my expense...
I've had exactly 2 relationships. The first lasted 2 years, the second (my marraige) lasted almost 10 years. I have a beautiful little boy with my ex-wife (still getting used to adding the "ex" part...) Anyway, because of that beautiful little boy, I'm hesitant about moving anytime in the near future. However, it's not out of the question because my ex wife would like to get out of this town. We both agreed, however, that if we move we will BOTH have to move to the SAME city, for our son's sake.
My Ideal Person:
Basically, I'm trying to find out if there really is "life after divorce". I'm exploring the shoreline, testing the waters of the proverbial sea with all those proverbial fish in it. I'm looking for someone who is patient enough to let things develop on their own. I've always felt that trying to force a relationship forward is the quickest way to wreck said relationship.
I need someone who is willing to let us just be friends at first. If things progress beyond that, great. If they don't progress beyond friendship, that's great too; after all, you can't have too many friends, right?
I need someone who understands that my emotional life is a shambles right now. I'm trying to figure out who I am again. My role as husband is gone, and now I have to define a new role for myself. I have to deal with my feelings for my ex wife. (oh, there are HOURS of conversation in that one topic alone I need someone who is patient enough to let me work through these things. It would be a perk if they'd be willing to help me unpack a little of this emotional baggage, as well.
