What is FriendFinder Messenger?
FriendFinder Messenger gives you the ability to instantly and anonymously strike up a conversation - or even a video conference - with other members across all the FriendFinder sites, no matter which site you're logged into... or even if you're not logged in at all!
To get started, you can download the FriendFinder Messenger client by going to FriendFinder Messenger starting page. The Messenger will automatically launch when the download is complete. Once it's been installed, you can launch the Messenger from your computer's Start Menu, by going to All Programs, FriendFinder Messenger v4.1.
To login for the first time, follow the steps below:
  1. From the main FriendFinder Messenger window, click the "Accounts" icon.
  2. From the Account Manager window, select the site on which you have an account and would like to login. Click the "Edit" button.
  3. From the Account Login window, type in the handle.
  4. Type in the password.
  5. Click the "Save password" checkbox, if desired, to avoid typing your login/password the next time you open Messenger.
  6. Click the "Login" button.
How do I add my other site accounts to FriendFinder Messenger?
When starting out, your FriendFinder Messenger will be set to the specific site and member username you downloaded the IM client usingfrom. To see friends and contact members from other sites in the FriendFinder nNetwork, or to use additional accounts from the same site, you must add them to your FriendFinder Messenger.
  1. From the FriendFinder Messenger main window, click the "Accounts" icon.
  2. From the Account Manager window, click the "Add account" button.
  3. From the Account Login window, select the site on which you have an account and would like to login.
  4. Type in the handle.
  5. Type in the password.
  6. Click the "Save password" checkbox, if desired, to avoid typing your login/password the next time you open Messenger.
  7. Click the "Login" button.
To start a new account on a new site:
  1. From the main FriendFinder Messenger window, click the "Accounts" icon.
  2. From the Account Manager window, click the "Add account" button.
  3. From the Account Login window, select the site on which you would like to create a new account.
  4. Click the link below the site list telling you to sign up for a free account.
  5. Fill out the form.
  6. Once your account there is activated, it will automatically be added to the FriendFinder Messenger
From the Account Manager window, you can also control which of your accounts are available for the FriendFinder Messenger with the control buttons under each account.. To temporarily log the accounts off or on, click the "Logout" or "Login" buttons. To permanently remove an account from the FriendFinder Messenger, log out of the account and click the "Delete" button. Once you delete an account, it will not be available for the FriendFinder Messenger unless you add it again. To temporarily hide an account from FriendFinder Messenger, log out of the account and click the "Hide" button. To show a hidden account again, click the "Show" button.
How do I interact with other members who are chatting?
To open the "Who's Chatting" window from the FriendFinder Messenger main window, log in to an account and click the "Chatting" button. Clicking on the username of any member in your Friend Network will open a menu where you can choose to chat with them or view their profile. Select Chat and a chat window will open. Type your message and hit Send. Messages to and from people in your Friend Network are automatically accepted. Incoming messages from members not in your Friend Network will give you the option to accept the message, decline it, view the member's profile, or place them on Ignore.
To Page a member not in your Friend Network, click the Outgoing Page icon for the appropriate account. NOTE: you must have an account on the same site as the member you wish to contact, and it must be logged in on the FriendFinder Messenger. Enter the username of the member you wish to contact, type your message, and click the "Send" button.
You can also see who's online by selecting "Who's Online"icon for the appropriate site. A photo scroller will open, giving you a scrolling thumbnail photos of members organized by those closest to your location. The list can also be filtered, by updating your Cupid Settings. You can contact anyone on the list simply by clicking their username and clicking the Page icon.
Members with publicly available webcam streams will have a webcam icon next to their thumbnail photo. Click the icon to see live images from their webcam.
Once you are in an active IM window and chatting with another member, you can see when the other person is typing. If you are a premium member, you can also access their profile.
Interact with even more users by visiting the chat rooms. Just click on the chat icon to select Chat Rooms!
Can I use my Webcam on FriendFinder Messenger?
Yes! The FriendFinder Messenger from the FriendFinder Messenger main window, s is optimized for webcams! Simply select "Broadcast Webcam" in the Global Actions menu to get started.
In the "Broadcast webcam" window that opens, you will have the option of making the webcam stream available for viewing by all members by selecting "Broadcast publicly". Members with publicly available webcam images have icons next to their usernames. Clicking these icons will give you access to their webcam stream.
NOTE: You cannot make a webcam invitation directly. You must first either be invited into an IM chat, or make an IM invitation that is accepted. The webcam invitation can only be made in an active and open FriendFinder chat window.
What is the Photo Gallery?
If you want to see who's in your vicinity, select "Photo Gallery" icon from the icon menu for the appropriate site. This will give you access to a slideshow of members in your area who you might be interested in contacting!
You must be connected to a site in the FriendFinder Messenger to see that site's gallery. A random selection of images from active members will be assembled, based on your current Cupid settings.
NOTE: the members in the Photo Gallery may or may not be online at the time, or available for IM chat.
What languages does FriendFinder Messenger IMC support?
FriendFinder Messenger supports every language used in the FriendFinder Network! English is the default setting. To change it, from the FriendFinder Messenger main window, click the "Preferences" icon and select Preferences. Select the language you want to use and click "Save."
You may also change languages from the FriendFinder Messenger main window by clicking on the flag in the upper right corner of the window and selecting your desired language.
