![]() | This August, ndpendentlady44 has been letting us in on her life and her blog. According to her profile, she's "searching for my best friend!" She says, "I am down to earth, loyal, friendly, and very independent." But, being the curious folk that we are, we wanted to know MORE! Come along for the ride, and check back all month long! |
Ok, we'll start with an easy one. What's the deal with this Blogstock business? Who came up with the idea, where's it gonna be, etc? We've heard rumblings about this for a while on a few different blogs, and it looks like it's happening! Very exciting!
The Blogstock.. oh I am so excited about That. Sir_T, lovingly known by all the "Keepers of the Yellow Tongie" as Certs, came up with the idea.
He has put all his efforts into having a meet and greet that he has named "Blogstock". Although, it is not just for bloggers, it is for anyone on FriendFinder who would like to come. The more the merrier.
We are looking at May 21st through May 23, 2008 in Pueblo Colorado.
We are in the process of gathering members poems together, to publish a book of poems, and getting members to submit pictures for our calendar that we will be making as well. T-Shirts will also be made for the Blogstock.
All the monies we get for these will go into a love fund to help members who want to join us but can't afford to get there on their own. Members can also just donate to the love fund as well, if they don't want to buy any of the memorabilia. The money we don't use to help members get to blogstock we will donate to the Make A Wish Foundation.
I have put on my blog a post needing some creative ideas for our "Blogstock" logo. The T-Shirts and the book of poems are my department, since I did volunteer for those. But I am willing to take any help out there, if anybody wants to help! *Big Grin*
Now let's get to the important stuff and talk about YOU. What brought you to FriendFinder in the first place?
Well...actually, I happened across one of your sister sites first. Not fully understanding anything about the site, I bought a 3 month gold membership.
Once I realized it was not the site for me, I came to FriendFinder. I bought a 3 month gold membership here as well, and told myself that when it ran out I would leave. But...I am still here, as I love the people I have come to know on this site.
How did you get started in the blogs, and how long have you been writing?
Actually, when I first came here I started in the magazine. Then I was browsing the blogs one day, and thought, "There is no way I could write about myself, because I am a very private person." But I mustered up the nerve and tried it anyway. My very first post was written in Feb. of 2006, it's not up anymore, but I do remember it. I asked the question, what is it about cybersex that men like so much? I wish I still had that one up. I received some very humorous responses to that question. I was welcomed with open arms from the bloggers, and I have been hooked ever since. Blogging has really helped me come out of my private shell, not only on the internet, but also in my 3D life.
What do you most enjoy about blogging? Also, do you have any tips on using the blogs as a means of dating/getting to know people?
I mentioned in the Blogstock question "The Keepers of the Yellow Tongie", well...we are just a group of women that constantly pick on the men. I would say the playfulness that everyone has is what I like most about the blogs. We have become a pretty tight knit group in the blogs. We love newcomers and have our own little welcome wagon.
I have no tips for anyone when it comes to dating. I could use some of them myself if anyone has any tips to give me! LOL!
When I first came here, I used to get a lot of scammers in my email, but now when I get email, if someone wants to get to know me I direct them to the blogs. Scammers usually won't start a blog. I think the blogs are the best place to get to know someone. I am a very honest and open person. Some have told me I am too honest and open for the internet.
But I can only be me...so what you see is what you get.
I have several met several people from the blogs that I talk to on the phone, or email on a regular basis. It's very easy to meet and make good friends in the blogs, but I have to say, if your not very playful, we will fix that for you! LOL!
Your profile says you're on FF for friendship--has the site lived up to your expectations in that regard? Also, have you ever tried the site for dating?
FriendFinder has definitely lived up to my expectations of finding friends. It has given me the opportunity to meet and chat with people that I would have never met otherwise. I have made friends with people from all over the world. Thank You for that!
I am looking for a friendship because I truly believe that for any relationship to be successful, It is a MUST to be friends first. I am looking for a best friend in a male. If I find one, then it will be up to the two of us whether we will cross that fine line between friends and lovers.
I've been told several times, and I mean SEVERAL times, that I need to quit looking and he will come my way. So...I've quit looking. Of course he hasn't showed up on my doorstep yet, but I'm not giving up hope!
Has blogging for you taken the place of keeping a personal diary? Is that something you've ever done before, or is your FF blog your first experience with this kind of writing?
I have kept a journal since I was about 10 years old. I have about 25 notebooks in my house that are full of my feelings. The blogs are a place for me to play, and release the stresses from work. It has not taken place of my personal diaries. I suppose there is still some privacy left in me. Although my blog on FF is the first blog I've ever written.
Do you have any advice for newbies to FriendFinder? Favorite thing about the site? Least favorite?
Of Course the Blogs are my favorite thing about this site. Second is the Bling. Cf course I don't have an artistic bone in my body, so I have been struggling with making a decent looking bling. But we do have some extremely talented people here and there are some pretty awesome Bling out there.
My least favorite is the changes that were made concerning the friends network. Before the changes, even standard members could view the profiles of their friends in their network. Since changes have been made we cannot do that anymore.
I have learned so much on my own here. There are a massive amount of really good, very real people here. But there are also people here that have multiple handles that like to manipulate others. My advice to newbies is to trust your gut instinct. If something doesn't "feel" right, more than likely it isn't right.
If you start a blog, comment to all who comment on your blog, and come to our blogs and play with us.. or we will think you don't like us! LOL!
FriendFinder explains everything about their site from points to how to make your posts creative. All in all, even with the bad experiences I've had, this is one of the best sites on the internet.
But BEWARE.. this site is very, very, addicting!
*Stands up.. clears throat..
Hi.. I'm ndpendentlady44 and I am a blogaholic! LOL!
