| Predict life, if you dare.UPDATE. |
Jul 7, 2008 3:59 pm 801 Views | SORRY. A very dear and close friend of mine, similar in age and upbringing, and life style, has been diagnosed with Cancer. This poem by me, reflects, my thoughts, feelings, and my upbringing as if it were my dilemma. I made it a No reply post because it is impossible, to reflect my friends life or what he thinks and feels, in a short space of words. So felt it unbecoming for people to comment.
The sun rises and the tide turns, another day begins, inner pains, A small boy waits beside the grocers cart, for customers to leave, When all have gone the boy lifts his eyes, pleading for remains, A softness of love he projects, standing in a shirt with no sleeves.
Hands held out begging, asking for some food to give his family life, All in the neighborhood feel sorry for him, they know the life he has, His mother scrubs floors to survive, for she is a fallen soldiers wife, No morsels come to him today, but, there are many who eat Hagen Daz.
(Sorry about that last line, but if you can’t have humour in adversity.. Then you don’t have very much.) (No it wasn’t chocolate Hagen Daz!).
The boy sees his mother weeping, she has no food, only love for him, He becomes strong in his battle to survive within life and he does learn, She prays constantly but there are no answers, so, she sings a hymn, Prays go unanswered, so he is in turmoil, But he knows where to turn.
But he grows and learns, he becomes a star within his chosen field, But as his father, life has struck him in his prime, CANCER his own war, Seeking righteousness fighting for freedom, in his quest he will not yield, He lives and loves and dies like many who have lived and gone before. | |
