BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS
These are the results of a 200-foot fall off the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. This is the search to re-educate myself after suffering total amnesia and starting off again as a 21 year old infant. This all took place primarely from 1980-1986.

Please keep this in mind. I am telling truths. I promised to be honest and will not even spare myself some embarrassing truths. Throughout, I am just waking up to a new world, life again as this occurred. I am young, inexperience and very gullible at all times this occurred and then written!

What this blog is all about:

Basically, this is the view of a child, a boy a young man...evolving in a world that was brand new to him. As he is expanding in thought and growing, being shaped by the conditions and influenced by people, certain people and of the scenarios they involved him in and of the critical surroundings. While facing the challenges of an unfamilar, an alien social structure and the cultural forces that shaped the life of this individual.
Thanks "msalchemy2"...i.e...CAT...i.e...Ancient... I personally could not have said this better!

Please keep that last statement in mind at all times while reading this. I am literally a child, growing up and not understanding why things are happening the way they are.

Your best bet, if you have joined late. Start out on the highest page found at the bottom of this page and from bottom of that page, read up. On all new pages go to the bottom of the page and read up. It will give continuity to this epic.

"Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny!"

Am I winning? What’s going on? Why am I here? Jun 27, 2008 7:09 pm

These people, who are they!! Everything is still blurry but all of sudden everyone, everything became remarkably clear. I have noticed people for the first time.

There’s a board game on my bed. It was all of a sudden, and I’m here, why? A lady they call Mom is here with some other people who are sitting next to my bed, MY bed? Backgammon? Hospital Gown? What am I doing? What are these pieces on this board and why am I throwing these tiny blocks? They tell me it’s a game.

It was a revelation!! Jun 27, 2008 7:07 pm

I realize now this is the moment I woke up. John and I played this game everyday after work and watched Star Trek and this is very familiar, this is what woke me up.

I remember so, so clearly I was looking down to my left and as I raised my head and it drifted to the right As he is telling me that we play this game everyday after work and he tells me we watch Star Trek and Spoc is my favorite...it connects…OH JOHN!

Everything about John and our 8-year best friend relationship, from pool playing at local hick bars, 1970 concerts and our Frank Zappa mania, our high school partying too being his best man of his wedding, everything we did in eight years hits me in about 3 seconds. WOW!! What a rush!! I’ve got to bottle this!! It was a revelation!! I noticed people for the first ime!

I’m now in bed and I have a gown on of some sort, Jun 27, 2008 7:04 pm

I’m now in bed and I have a gown on of some sort, everything is blurry. I’m playing this game they call Backgammon with this guy named John. (This is about 4 to 6 months…I’m not quite sure how long after the fall and my return to Saginaw on an airplane ambulance)

I was told that they asked me who he was. I hope I had said “You brought him here!” because I’m sure I had no idea. The people around this guy and me are giving hints of past experiences; our high school escapades and such and things start to come together. This guy tells me that we had moved to Steamboat Springs, CO together back in 1974 and that we currently share an apartment together on the lake we take the rubber raft out on at Harathio Park.

He tells me that he's had marring Rosma, my senior year high school lover and that I wants me to be the best man in his wedding.

...that’s Boulder Falls, Lets go climbing! Jun 27, 2008 7:00 pm

Well, we got to Boulder and the reintroductions and ‘good buddy’ speeches are completed. The ‘first thing we’ll do is taking Michael B. climbing.

It’s July 30, 1978 about noon and I remember parking the car just past the bridge on the right side of the highway. We all, Mike, Jesse and I are headed down the embankment, crossing the river rock hopping and I then yelled to Mike as the Falls became clear “Look there’s the Falls, that’s Boulder Falls, Lets go climbing!

Sue,

This all begins with the arrival of my friend Mike Brandimore and Me in Boulder, Colorado on a vacation to see our good friend Jesse Draper in July of 1978.

I had moved to Steamboat Springs, CO to be a ski bum after high school graduation in 1974. After a few years we moved to Boulder where Jesse started college at Metropolitan State in Denver, I soon followed. This College started out in abandoned buildings until they built their own campus. I ended up completing about a couple of semesters plus worth of college credits.

I then moved back to Saginaw in 1977 to begin my career at Hoyt Nursing Home. About a year after this, along with my best friend Mike Brandimore, I went on the vacation back to Boulder, CO to see Jesse. The Story Begins:

I know I’m a walking idiot. Jun 26, 2008 6:41 pm

When I came out of the coma I didn’t even know my name, my left from right or how old I was. I had cuts, scraps and bruises all over and blistered and torn up hands and fingertips from trying to impede my fall.

They told me there wasn’t a white piece of skin anywhere on my body. The Psychologist just after my release from the hospital tried to explain to me at that time I was a 22 year-old infant, “Ya sure Doc”, I didn’t realize.

Then returning to the Hoyt Nursing Home was a challenge; I didn’t even know the difference between a bedpan and an enema. The College bug has hit! I know I’m a walking idiot.

the 30-day coma at the hospital in Boulder. Jun 26, 2008 12:57 pm

It was July 30, 1978 and I had fallen 200 feet climbing at the Boulder Falls area outside Denver, CO. My blood has basically been replaced; I lost 26 pints of blood. My left side was paralyzed and thank god I snapped out of this state while I was in the 30-day coma at the hospital in Boulder.

I didn’t have solid food for months and I had shrunk 55 lbs. in 21 days, and I’m at 130 lbs. I ended up in the coma from the basal skull fracture. My skull was swollen twice its normal size. The nurses told my parents, nightly I would grind my teeth so hard that they could here it 15 rooms down at the nurse’s station. I’m still in the coma at this time.

I suffered a total memory loss after coming out of the coma.

Bloggers,

This is a letter to a journalist of The Saginaw News in Saginw, MI. She had heard about my accident and my goal to re-educate myself after coming out of a 30-day coma with total amnesia.
These are the trials and tribulations that I survied through and am now 1 class short of my degree. I started off as basically a 21 year old infant.

In the picture, Jesse Draper is standing at the point at which I fell from. I ended up down by the water. This is well after the fact. He went up to take the picture of where I fell from in case I lived to give me an idea of what I went through. I ended up down by the water.

Sue,

These are some excerpts from my journal that I have been writing for now close too 30 years. I wanted to tell you about how I got to this position. This is primarily a recap of my total college education career effort. It was right after I got back on my feet after my accident.

The first paragraph explains my accident and some results. Then I explain some of what I experienced as I searched for my degree.

I went back to Hoyt Nursing Home as the Assistant Administrator sometime in 1979. I didn’t comprehend much at the time but I was told some details of what I just went through:
