How to Cook a Stuffed CHRISTMAS TURKEY and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU !!! Dec 29, 2005 11:52 am
Mood: handsome, 1770 Views

Have you read how Uncle Podger("Three Men in a Boat",Jerome K.Jerome) undertakes to do a job?
"A picture would have come home from the frame-makers...waiting to be put up...,..and
Uncle Podger would say,'Oh, you leave that to
me.Don't you,any of you, worry yourselves about that.I'll do all that.'....He would send the girl out for sixpen'orth of nails, and then one of the boys after her to tell her what size to get;and, from that,he would gradually work down and start the whole house.
"Now you go and get me my hammer, Will",he would shout;"and you bring me the rule,Tom;and I shall want the step-ladder,and I had better have a kitchen-chair,too;and,Jim! you run round to Mr.Goggles and tell him, 'Pa's kind regards, and hopes his leg's better;and will he lend him his spirit-level?' And don't you go,Maria, because I shall want somebody to hold me the light;and when the girl comes back, she must go out again for a bit of picture-cord;and Tom!-where's Tom?-Tom,you come here; I shall want you to hand me up the picture."

Well, my Mum is the same when she does something. She loves "team work"!...We are round the kitchen table, ready to stuff the Christmas turkey. My Mum would make my Dad turn the turkey upside down and hold its legs wide apart so that she can fill its ass(ups!) with rice and raisins. I am to hold
a threaded needle to sew the hole as quickly as possible so that the rice doesn't come out.
"Mary, this needle isn't big enough,it will get lost in the turkey.Go and look for a bigger one...No,no,this one is too big-it will tear the flesh of the turkey while you're sewing it.Don't,you two, move! I'll go and look for a good needle."
And me,with the "bad" needle in the air, and my father-he is a quiet old man, clutching the legs of the turkey with both hands, would stay motionless like in a frozen picture, waiting for my Mum to come back...

Did anybody recognize himself/herself?

Well,I'm not going to stuff anything for New Year, I'm going to dance in a restaurant!

But before that I want to tell you that I have never had so many friends in my life before I found you out, dear bloggers!

Thank you for existing,ALL MY FRIENDS, for being so love-giving and making my winter warmer!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
BE LOVED ALL THE YEAR ROUND !

First snow in Bourgas...
The sea can be beautiful in winter, too,
...when there is sun.

Does This Happen to You ? Dec 20, 2005 4:24 am
Mood: anxious, 1527 Views

The shortest day of the year is coming - the winter solstice. I feel restless, nervous, wake up in the middle of the night, stand by the window and stare at the dark opaque sky anxiously waiting for an answer. An answer to what? I don't understand.
The same happens to me when summer comes -
then I wake up early in the morning, watching from my bed how the grey sky gradually turns pink with the rising of the sun. But then my heart is jubilant.
Change of seasons....I feel like a fleck in the universe, tossed about by mighty powers, like a snowflake whirling helplessly in the air...
Does this happen to you ? Write to me !

WHO IS STILL THINKING ABOUT THE SUMMER ??? Dec 11, 2005 3:40 am

CALENDAR FROM THE SEA - 3

DECEMBER
I woke up early this morning - it was still pitch dark when I opened my eyes and I don't like this feeling of incompleteness. I enjoy the dark mystery of the night when all is hushed and veiled, but in the morning I want my eyes to meet the sunshine of the day.
Unfortunately, the last sunshine I saw was a few days ago, on St. Nicholas Day. For us, the sea people, St. Nicholas is the patron of sailors and fishermen, who works wonders to save them when they are in stormy waters. On this day, November 6th, we had a day off from work for St. Nicholas is also the patron of the city.
Well, it was a merry holiday and everywhere smelled of fried and grilled carp, the traditional meal on this day, but what my senses photographed was the procession of the city dwellers to the sea where wreaths were thrown in the water in memory of the mariners who have perished at sea. Fresh flowers were floating on the smooth silver-blue surface of the sea,so peaceful as if I would never see it raging; a scent of seaweeds wafted on the moist breeze, the sun was struggling through white high-drifting clouds- it was more like the start of early spring than winter.
But we, the natives, know that after this holiday real winter is coming because
St.Nicholas is bringing the snow in his white beard....
The wind today is cold and spitefully piercing, the low clouds can smash you,it is raining which means that it is snowing in the other parts of the country.
So, I'm sending you my last photo of a sunny Bourgas sea for the year, saying "Good bye, summer!"
I am not a winter gal, as you already know, and prefer the natural sunlight to these artificially blinking holiday lights, the natural green to the plastic or cut-off pine trees. All this decoration forcibly tears my heart off my summer world and it hurts, oh, it hurts !

But I'm happy for you, folks, that you rejoice at this season so much and wish you
HAPPY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS !!!

YOURS,
SUNLOVER

I like the visual of this poem and want to share it with you.

The house is not the same since you left

The house is not the same since you left
the cooker is angry - it blames me
The TV tries desperately to stay busy
but occasionally I catch it staring out of the window
The washing-up's feeling sorry for itself again
it just sits there saying
"What's the point, what's the point?"
The curtains count the days
Nothing in the house will talk to me
I think your armchair's dead
The kettle tried to comfort me at first
but you know what its attention span is like
I've not told the plants yet
they think you're still on holiday
The bathroom misses you
I hardly see it these days
It still can't believe you didn't take it with you
The bedroom won't even look at me
since you left it keeps its eyes closed
all it wants to do is sleep, remembering better times
trying to lose itself in dreams
it seems like it's taken the easy way out
but at night I hear the pillows
weeping into the sheets.

P.S. to Reminiscences Dec 2, 2005 3:39 am

This is what's the weather in Bourgas today
and this was the weather in Bourgas more than 20 years ago when I took the picture. It shows part of the house and of the plum tree I told you about. The photo is really black and white,I don't remember if colour photography was practised in Bulgaria then. But at the time I was crazy about photography and was even developing the photos myself.
Do you like this one ?

It's a pity the raindrops can't be clearly seen bacause of the minimizing of the photo.

REMINISCENCES Dec 1, 2005 4:34 am
Mood: contemplative, 1870 Views
When the sky closes its lens to the sunshine and the grey colour is crawling to clutch our hearts, when the herring-gulls on the wet roofs are the only faint track from the summer, I save myself with reminiscences.
I still remember the old house, which was my grandmother's, about 200 years old, with the yard and the gorgeous plum tree, all in white blossom in spring. It yielded the most
delicious plums I've ever eaten - big, mellow and sweet like peaches - you peel the red skin, leave the yellow flesh melt in your mouth and feel the juice go down your throat.
We had a table and two benches under the brances of the tree - there we had our meals in warm seasons and gathered our friends; there my first boyfriend read his yet unpublished poems to me. My first boyfriend who stayed unkissed.
Now in the place of the house is a small block of tiny flats, inhabited mainly by my relatives, including me. I'm happy to live so close to the sea, on the verge between civilization and nature, because more often I feel pagan than Christian,so blended am I with nature...

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT NATURE ?

Congratulate you on 1st DEC!
Have a satisfying and not very cold day !
It's still 14*C here, by the Black Sea - wet but warm.

What Is Real Life ? Nov 28, 2005 4:06 am
Mood: aggravated, 1484 Views

O.K., I didn't want to post this blog, but obviously I have to throw it out in order to be able to go on.
An ex-acquaintance of mine told me that writing on the blogsphere is the same as living in a world of fantasies; and what I need is real life...I don't know why his words hurt me so much. It's true that I don't have emotional life at the moment , but I think that working with people all day makes my life pretty real.
Did he imply that sharing my thoughts about life with other people, revealing my views in public means that I'm still an immature and unaccomplished person ?
I've been married for 15 years and know how deceitful emotional life can be...
That's why I'm here on the blogsphere, having friends, which makes me more relaxed in expressing myself.
WHAT DOES "REAL LIFE" MEAN ?...May be more trips, more entertainment, successful business, more riches?..
Or finding the real love???......
Are we all on the blogsphere, who are looking for something more than the harsh and trivial reality or estimating it from a different angle, losers ?
Are all writers, sharing their visions of life with the whole world and thus revealing themselves, losers ?

YOU TELL ME !

LOVE CAN NOT BE DEMANDED ! LOVE IS GIVEN !

It is not a bargain. It is not a purchase.

Love is gained through giving,

as well as trust is.
