 I AM SO TIRED OF...
...FIGHTING TIME,OVERWORK STRAIN AND SHORTAGE; ...HAVING TO OBEY "I MUST" INSTEAD OF "I WISH"; ...RELYING ON MY JUDGEMENTS ALONE AND FINDING COURAGE IN MYSELF ONLY; ...FRUITLESSLY TRYING TO HELP BELOVED ONES AND PROTECT THEM FROM THEMSELVES; ...STRIVING TO BE SMART, BEAUTIFUL AND COMPLETE; ...WORKING FOR MY DREAMS TO TURN INTO REALITY AND BEING SLAPPED BY LIFE; ...BALANCING THE WARNINGS OF MY MIND AND THE LONGINGS OF MY HEART; ...BEING CONSTANTLY DISAPPOINTED BY PEOPLE AND STILL LOVING THEM; ...WAITING FOR THE MAN BORN FOR ME AND BEING TAKEN CARE OF; ...PUTTING MYSELF TO SLEEP WITHOUT A LULLABY...CRYING WITHOUT TEARS...
Did I miss anything? You may continue...
I AM NOT TIRED TO LOVE AND BE GOOD......
Please, forgive me this downhearted post, dear friends...May be next time.... Tomorrow I'm leaving for Sofia, our capital,to have medical tests done. Love you. SL

CALENDAR FROMTHE SEA (1)-ARE YOU WAAAARM?

How are you,my dear friends from all over the world?
A wave with Arctic cold came to the Balkan Peninsula from the North. Sofia is the coldest capital in Europe today, even colder than Moscow. But it's not better in Poland,Turkey and Rumania. We,the people living by the sea, are spared by nature again, only -15*C! The good thing is that schools in 18 districts in Bulgaria are closed for a forced vacation till the end of the week. And I'm free,my friends, free at last to tell you "HALLO"! Because I'm always so busy, tired and not feeling very well lately and I miss your lovely blogs which I want to be part of,read and comment on. Keep warm and tell me what is the weather with you! And read my next blog to see what I've sent you! Love, Sunlover

Calendar From the Sea (2) - With All My Love

I want to share with you this precious thing which I found yesterday. I found it because I was anticipating it,looking forward to it,looking for it. The first snowdrop! This shy,bowed-headed tender fighter, enduring cold and blizzards, a herald of spring and may be of a new love...I found incredibly white-clean and single on the black grassless soil. I carried my flower to my warm home, put it in water, caressed it...and look at it now! It opened itself to the warmth and bloomed! Do you smell its delicate scent?
I'm scanning my snowdrop for you although I'll press and pain it but I want to send you a live flower and wish you much health and hope! WITH ALL MY LOVE TO YOU!
BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ONLY MY FRIENDS,YOU ARE MY FAMILY!

Mood-linked Brain Molecule May Lead to New Depression Treatments

I read this and decided that if we know more about depression,it will help us overcome it easier, and this information may come specially useful in winter. The following extracts are a compilation of two articles.
"Scientists have discovered a protein that seems to play a crucial role in developing depression, a finding that may lead to new treatments for the often debilitating illness and fundamental understanding of why it strikes. Although problems with the mood-regulating brain serotonin have long been linked to depression, scientists don't know what causes the disease. The newly found protein, named p11,appears to regulate how brain cells respond to serotonin. This finding represents compelling evidence that p11 has a pivotal role in both the cause of depression and perhaps its successful treatment. Most depression medications used today stem from a theory that depression patients might not have enough serotonin,a neurotransmitter,or chemical that carries signals between nerve cells. Then scientists discovered the serotonin connection was more complicated, dependent on how well the neurotransmitter binds to receptors on cell surfaces. The new research focuses on one of these receptors that seems to play a particularly big role in major depression. Greengard,a Rockfeller neuroscientist and Nobel Laureate, and colleagues discovered that the p11 protein increases the number of these receptors on the surfaces of cells, mobilizing them so they are available for serotonin to do its job. Series of remarkable experiments found that depressed people have substantially lower levels of p11 in their brain tissue than the non-depressed. The researchers don't yet know whether a genetic defect or some other factor is responsible for altering p11 levels.Probably p11 is part of a protein family known to be sensitive to certain stress-related hormones." from"Brain Protein May Be Linked to Depression",by Lauran Neergaard,Medical Writer "But people shouldn't despair even if there is trouble around them. 'Happiness has a very weak relation to the events in our lives," Jonathan Haidt,an author of the book "The Happiness Hypothesis",says. 'Your happiness level is determined mostly by the structure in your brain-not by whether good or bad things happen to you.Negative events hurt or feel bad,but they are not usually as bad as we think and don't last as long as we think.' Happiness is an individual thing,he says, like a thermostat in our brains with a baseline that's predetermined by genetics. 'We all move around,up or down, around our set point depending on life events,'he says.'The key to the psychology of happiness is to move to the upper range of your potential.' from "Unhappiness Has Risen in the Past Decade" by Sharon Jayson,USA Today
What comforts me is that the major factor commanding our psychological state is chemistry, not doom. And if it is chemistry,it is in the hands of science. If it is in the hands of science,it is remediable. Am I right?
SO,CHIN UP!

With special thanks to Waterchime, Moon2u and MagicalDude who with their blogs encouraged me to tell you about Bulgarian customs and traditions.
Thanks for stepping by and reading !! Perhaps the most spectacular and ancient manifestation of Bulgarian folk culture are the Kukeri processions. The dramatic huge masks and costumes reflect an ancient nature tradition honoring the cycles of life, death and rebirth. The revelers put much care into their nightmarish costumes and can be found carrying flaming torches throughout the streets of villages and cities on New Year's Eve and 1st January.

CALENDAR FROM THE SEA : Bulgarian Winter Traditions - Kukeri Dances - 2

Kukeri dances is a unique Bulgarian ritual of Thracian origin kept from pagan times and consists of masked performers who transverse villages to ward off evil and insure fertility. Kukeri men, dressed in frightening costumes and magnificently ornate masks and hoods, make as much noise as possible, jumping up and down to make the masses of sheep bells tied to their waists clatter noisily, sticks are waned threatening at the sky. The meaning of the Kukeri is to chase away evil spirits and through a prayer to the god of vegetation the sympathetic influence over nature to be obtained, using dances symbolizing ploughing and sowing. Set on a platform in the corner of the village square,a small band of musicians and singers perform the traditional circle dance called "horo".Huge rings of happy dancers, holding their hands, sway from side to side.Everybody can break the chain and join the dance. When you get tired, you just retire to the nearest cafe, pub or tavern and refresh yourself with kebapcheta cooked on smoking outdoor barbecues and excellent Bulgarian wine or beer. WELCOME TO THE FEAST !

How to Cook a Stuffed CHRISTMAS TURKEY and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU !!!

Have you read how Uncle Podger("Three Men in a Boat",Jerome K.Jerome) undertakes to do a job? "A picture would have come home from the frame-makers...waiting to be put up...,..and Uncle Podger would say,'Oh, you leave that to me.Don't you,any of you, worry yourselves about that.I'll do all that.'....He would send the girl out for sixpen'orth of nails, and then one of the boys after her to tell her what size to get;and, from that,he would gradually work down and start the whole house. "Now you go and get me my hammer, Will",he would shout;"and you bring me the rule,Tom;and I shall want the step-ladder,and I had better have a kitchen-chair,too;and,Jim! you run round to Mr.Goggles and tell him, 'Pa's kind regards, and hopes his leg's better;and will he lend him his spirit-level?' And don't you go,Maria, because I shall want somebody to hold me the light;and when the girl comes back, she must go out again for a bit of picture-cord;and Tom!-where's Tom?-Tom,you come here; I shall want you to hand me up the picture."
Well, my Mum is the same when she does something. She loves "team work"!...We are round the kitchen table, ready to stuff the Christmas turkey. My Mum would make my Dad turn the turkey upside down and hold its legs wide apart so that she can fill its ass(ups!) with rice and raisins. I am to hold a threaded needle to sew the hole as quickly as possible so that the rice doesn't come out. "Mary, this needle isn't big enough,it will get lost in the turkey.Go and look for a bigger one...No,no,this one is too big-it will tear the flesh of the turkey while you're sewing it.Don't,you two, move! I'll go and look for a good needle." And me,with the "bad" needle in the air, and my father-he is a quiet old man, clutching the legs of the turkey with both hands, would stay motionless like in a frozen picture, waiting for my Mum to come back...
Did anybody recognize himself/herself?
Well,I'm not going to stuff anything for New Year, I'm going to dance in a restaurant!
But before that I want to tell you that I have never had so many friends in my life before I found you out, dear bloggers!
Thank you for existing,ALL MY FRIENDS, for being so love-giving and making my winter warmer! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! BE LOVED ALL THE YEAR ROUND !
