We Are Snowedunder ! ! ! Jan 6, 2008 3:35 pm

Differently from last year with no winter at all and temperatures up to 17*C/65*F in January and February, we began 2008 with heavy snowfalls and unprecedented low temperatures of up to -33C/85*F. The Danube river, our northern boundary, began freezing, an event not known for 22 years. A Bulgarian ship sank right after New Year in the stormy waters of the Sea of Azov because of the bad weather.

Snowdrifts up to 3m held tourists trapped in the mountain huts for four days without electricity, water and food supply, same for mountain villagers. City traffic was blocked, even 3 trains were stopped on their way by the high snowdrifts on the rails. Military forces and helicopters are summoned for help.

Are we in for " a cold spell" after the global warming as Quietman posted in his blog ?.....

I Will Marry You But Only On a Few Conditions.... Jan 4, 2008 4:42 am

We didn't have a prenuptial agreement in our legislation by now but it was announced on last night news that it is considered to be enforced this year. A new gain for the New Year ! And having in mind that fewer and fewer young couples get married world over, including in my country, they prefer only to live together, forgot the English term for that kind of co-existence....

I remember having put the pros and cons of this topic for class discussion with my then 11th grade students and they voted against signing such a document.

I know that this legal document, although optional I think, exists in Western Europe and the USA, so I'm asking you - what do you think about it ?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL, BLOG FRIENDS !

MAY IT BRING YOU LUCK TO FIND WHAT AND WHO YOU ARE LOOKING FOR !

AND WHEN YOUR LUCK YOU FIND,

The Taj Mahal (1630 A.D.) Agra, India Dec 30, 2007 2:24 pm
882 Views
This immense mausoleum was built on the orders of Shah Jahan, the fifth Muslim Mogul emperor, to honor the memory of his beloved late wife. Built out of white marble and standing in formally laid-out walled gardens, the Taj Mahal is regarded as the most perfect jewel of Muslim art in India. The emperor was consequently jailed and, it is said, could then only see the Taj Mahal out of his small cell window.

And this is the last of the N7W of the world that I'm introducing to you in my consequence of posts but a very beautiful and exquisite one.
Only if I could have a flying carpet...May be this is a good wish for New Year ? ....

But my greatest wish is that you and I, my precious blog friends stay together next year, too !

HAPPY NEW YEAR ! TIME FOR PARTY !!!!!!!!

The Pyramid at Chichen Itza (before 800 A.D.), Mexico Dec 30, 2007 1:55 pm

Chichén Itzá, the most famous Mayan temple city, served as the political and economic center of the Mayan civilization. Its various structures - the pyramid of Kukulkan, the Temple of Chac Mool, the Hall of the Thousand Pillars, and the Playing Field of the Prisoners – can still be seen today and are demonstrative of an extraordinary commitment to architectural space and composition. The pyramid itself was the last, and arguably the greatest, of all Mayan temples.

At the view of such grandeous creations of mankind, I'm proud that I'm one of its descendants although a humble one...

Machu Picchu (1460-1470), Peru Dec 30, 2007 5:22 am

In the 15th century, the Incan Emperor Pachacútec built a city in the clouds on the mountain known as Machu Picchu ("old mountain"). This extraordinary settlement lies halfway up the Andes Plateau, deep in the Amazon jungle and above the Urubamba River. It was probably abandoned by the Incas because of a smallpox outbreak and, after the Spanish defeated the Incan Empire, the city remained 'lost' for over three centuries. It was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911.

Can you fancy a New Year's Eve spent there ? Woooow !

Be happy in the last hours of this year wherever you are !

And my love for you,

Christ Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Dec 30, 2007 5:00 am

Christ Redeemer (1931) is the 3d in order new wonder of the world.

This statue of Jesus stands some 38 meters tall, atop the Corcovado mountain overlooking Rio de Janeiro. Designed by Brazilian Heitor da Silva Costa and created by French sculptor Paul Landowski, it is one of the world’s best-known monuments. The statue took five years to construct and was inaugurated on October 12, 1931. It has become a symbol of the city and of the warmth of the Brazilian people, who receive visitors with open arms.

Christ Redeemer and the Statue of Liberty are the two monumental statues that I'd like to see. And may be somebody to meet me with open arms?

Are you preparing for the New Year's Eve ?
36 hours till the start of the New Year in Bulgaria !

Have a restful Sunday and gather energy for tomorrow's party !

The Roman Colloseum (70-82 A.D.) Rome, Italy Dec 29, 2007 4:39 pm
744 Views
This great amphitheater in the centre of Rome was built to give favors to successful legionnaires and to celebrate the glory of the Roman Empire. Its design concept still stands to this very day, and virtually every modern sports stadium some 2,000 years later still bears the irresistible imprint of the Colosseum's original design. Today, through films and history books, we are even more aware of the cruel fights and games that took place in this arena, all for the joy of the spectators.

Enjoy the sight !
I'll continue posting again tomorrow because I'm already very sleepy.

Nighty night !

Petra in Jordan Dec 29, 2007 4:20 pm
574 Views
On the edge of the Arabian Desert, Petra was the glittering capital of the Nabataean empire of King Aretas IV (9 B.C. to 40 A.D.). Masters of water technology, the Nabataeans provided their city with great tunnel constructions and water chambers. A theater, modelled on Greek-Roman prototypes, had space for an audience of 4,000. Today, the Palace Tombs of Petra, with the 42-meter-high Hellenistic temple facade on the El-Deir Monastery, are impressive examples of Middle Eastern culture.

Never think that the world begins with you !
