mourn for dead... The death toll in China's major earthquake rose to 34,074 as of 12pm today, according to the earthquake relief headquarters of the State Council.
And 245,108 people were injured in the 8.0-magnitude quake that jolted southwestern Sichuan Province last Monday.
According to the Ministry of Health, about 52,934 people have been hospitalized and 7,979 have recovered while 3,304 died in hospital.
China's national flag flies at half-mast after the flag-raising ceremony on Tian'anmen Square in Beijing Monday morning, May 19, 2008. China on Monday begins a three-day national mourning for the tens of thousands of people killed in a powerful earthquake which struck the country's southwest on May 12.About 2,600 people watched the flag-raising ceremony in the square.
CONSTRUCTION workers put down their tools, cars stopped in the street, and rescuers briefly paused in their search for survivors amid the rubble of earthquake devastation.
Busy, bustling China came to a standstill yesterday afternoon for three minutes to mourn the estimated 50,000 people killed since a massive earthquake hit Sichuan Province exactly one week earlier.
Hundreds gathered in Beijing's Tiananmen Square, where the Chinese flag was lowered to half-mast in a solemn ceremony. At 2:28pm, the crowd fell silent and stood with heads bowed while air raid sirens wailed. Traffic came to a halt and drivers sounded their horns.
When the three minutes were over, the crowd began chanting and punching their fists in the air. "Go China," "Go Sichuan," "Long Live China," they shouted.
Shop, restaurant and office workers had emptied into the streets to join the tribute, scenes mirrored across China.
its also like shanghai, before 2:28pm the sunshine illuminate the city, but while the time come,i can feel the heavy atmosphere..as the siren sounds little by little as the wind began to blow ,the cloud fend off the sun..shadow cover every ppl's sad expression...i stand and hold hands together to mourn the dead...we pray..we wish..our compatriots can be better in the heaven.alarm and so many sounds just like a sang..like crying..like express all chinese ,all the country were so sad ,and lament for the dead in the earthquake..some ppl were tears, some one bowed..after that, with the sound stop, the wind stop either...its just like the 3 minutes our mourn to be arrived heaven..they gone..
the past belongs to death, only the future belongs to us,life is not a short candle but a torch which we are holding temporarily.we must make it burn brightly, and then give it to the next generation.past just pass, and alive we still need live.but all of you will always in our mind and hearts so deeply. if a person has enough faith,he will create miracles.thats why its passed 7or 8 days after the disaster happend still have many survivors miraculously survived being buried for 177 hours or more in earthquake-devastated .
face the disaster, chinese not be scared and doing nothing, every one do best what they can do..the earthquake bring a large disaster ,but also bring warm human nature, and makes a nation to be unite ,life is so fragile but hearts will be more strong. we relieve the unfortunate together..
first time,i can feel what is the relationship for the same .ppl no longer selfish and unconcerned, warm, eager, and devote instead it..ppl heart to heart, hand with hand fight with the disaster together.whatever where they comes from or who they are .we also as one as a huge family forever..
first time,im so proud that im a chinese..
first time,i touched for the unite..

i believe,on the future..we can be more good,tomorrow will be better...keep walking..china!
the same sad for the Myanmar ,mourns for cyclone Nargis victims

(here was the news..on may .12 14:28PM)
The worst earthquake in China for 30 years is unfolding into a tragedy of enormous proportions. More than 18,000 people have been buried in one city alone. Many roads and bridges in the Sichuan province are inaccessible. The desperate plight of hundreds of thousands of people in the mountainous areas of the region demands immediate relief.
The death toll from Monday’s earthquake could climb as high as 50,000, China’s state council said on Thursday as rescue workers continued to struggle to reach some of the worst affected areas.
The number of deaths announced so far has reached 19,500 in Sichuan province, where the earthquake was centred. However, the sharp escalation in the expected death toll indicates that hopes are fading for the tens of thousands of people who are still buried under collapsed buildings.
when i saw the news from the disastrous after earthquake in sichuan by TV..I just feel so sad about the disaster and the dead who in the accident.i remember ,at that time,i did nothing but just feeling a little dizzy.luckily , i lived at shanghai.there were not too many affect to shanghai.just some high buildings and the city centres feel the earthquake.but not me..after that, an hour later my friends told me what happen and how many ppl dead on the earthquake.well, the number makes me so shock for awhile..i cant believe the large number of dead.but ,actually it was happend already that i unable to change the truth..at the moment ,it is distress and desperate at the disaster area, some ppl lose their family and home ,children crying.cuz they will be alone without parents.some parents lose their child also.everybody was tearing..but,the day not the last,we donate money and blood to their red cross for who need at the hospital..i hope more and more ppl could be rescued, tomorrow will be better, thousands ppl have got one heart.hold on,be strong,we pray for the miracle!~
