a bad day gone good, i reckon Aug 9, 2005 8:34 pm

well, i reckon it was not really a bad day, it just started out wrong. now, i wake up at 5:20 am every day i have to work, which i did today. went to bed late last night, so was a bit hard to get up and awake, but i managed it. i am getting ready to get ready for work when the phone rings. it is work. i work at a hospital. i'm a nurse. they are calling me off! arrrrgghhh! wouldn't be so bad, but this is the third time in two weeks! and once i am awake, i am awake! because i am scheduled for overtime this week, it was a have to because of low census. but i need the overtime!! that is why i sign up for it! and my overtime would actually be next saturday, which i would much rather have off than today!!! arrrgggghhh!!
so now it is 5:30 in the morning and i am wide awake. the grandbabies are sleeping, and since i am not working, i am automatically babysitter. daughter goes off to work, grandson wakes up. he is almost 5. not really bad, he just comes and cuddles with me on the couch and watches some early morning cartoons. this is rare, so i enjoy that. then he goes back to sleep. laundry loaded, dishwasher loaded. folded towels already clean. emptied basket that was full. pottied puppies. granddaughter-2 years old, now awake. so funny because i was just thinking on going and checking on her and she pops her little face into the kitchen. now snuggle time on the couch with nana's little girl. more laundry and folding. grandson awake. tv time for the little ones, breakfast of cold cereal. then off to find a little dresser for grandson. to the bank for money. don't forget the suckers!! no luck on dresser, so go to walmart. how did we survive before walmart?? i hate going there because i always spend too much. ended up buying two little colorful plastic drawer sets. when i put one set in, granddaugher says "where's mine nana?" she can read ya know, that word across my forehead--easy--or is it sucker? lol. she gets a new baby doll with her left over birthday money and we pay for all and off to the grocery store for bread. now, y'all know you never go for just a loaf of bread. that loaf of bread cost me 40 some dollars today, lol. used all the money i took from the bank, so i hope i don't need gas for the car. home for lunch. nap time!! granddaughter went right to sleep, grandson just took quiet time. i met a nice gentleman on the im and we chatted for some while. then grandson wants to go outside. we cleaned out the little pool, granddaughter is still napping. but she wakes up and follows us outside soon. puppies out again. momma comes home from work. grandpa comes to visit and buys us burgers from the burger joint. i dig around in the dirt, plant the poor little tree that has been waiting for about three weeks. line some bricks along the driveway. water the tree some more, and come inside. it is n ow dark. potty puppies, shower, then onto thecomputer to read blogs and such. kids are quiet, talked to oldest daughter while blogging, momma is in fairly good mood tonight so things are well. off to bed soon.

what flavor are you? Aug 8, 2005 8:27 pm

i am normally an ice tea drinker, by the gallon. but tonight, my grandkids had some strawberry soda.i love the taste of crush sodas, so i went for one. daughter said that was the last one. now i had taste for a fruity drink, and no crush available, so i had to do the next best thing. pull out the ol' koolaid.
have you bought any koolaid recently? the flavors are not the same. blueberry burst, raspberry reaction, roarin raspberry cranberry, switching secret-magic twist, changin cherry, ice blue raspberry lemonade, artic green apple, INVISIBLE raspberry (how is koolaid invisible???). and those are just the flavors that are in my cabinet. there were others, but they got drank. watermelon something or other. what ever has happened to koolaid? there are still the plain ol' flavors, black cherry, grape, orange-but i don't think the kids today drink them anymore, there is no excitement in them. you buy some flavor of koolaid, expect it to be red when you add water, and it turns yellow, then green then blue! we were so deprived as kids! when i made grape koolaid, it just turned purple!! i think my favorite is tropical punch. the grandkids don't like it though because it is always red. comes out red, turns red, stays red.
what flavor am i? tropical punch. a mixture of other flavors, blended just right so the taste is not too tart or too sweet. but just for tonight i will be something plain. tonight i will be... orange.

summer fairs Aug 7, 2005 7:50 pm

summer is near bout over with and i have not been to one fair this year. it has been pretty much tradition to go to at least three fairs in this area, but i have already missed two, and there are two left. i will try to go to at least the one they hold in this town for labor day.
i love fairs, but they are not the same as they used to be. when i was a child, i never attended fairs. i don't recall any being in chicago. when we moved "down south", i discovered that illinois had a fair of it's own!! i never got to go to it until i was well into adulthood though. not even a long story there, just naivity i reckon. but we did attend the local fair every year. horse races, beauty contests. 4h groups. tractor pulls, bands and on sunday night the demolition derby. cotton candy, elephant ears, funnel cakes, popcorn, hotdogs (i don't like corn dogs)or burgers. ribeye sandwiches. fries, chips, sodas or lemonshakeups. ferris wheels, zipper, bumper cars, tilt a whirl. eating then getting sick after the ride. there used to be alot of vendors at the fairs, but it has dwindled down quite a bit. probably because the cost of a "booth" keeps going up, or people don't buy because the products are too expensive, or quality too cheap. i think the reason i like the fairs is not the rides and the food, but the people. i like to watch people, especially children having fun. and i like to meet people. "carnies" are some pretty interesting people sometimes. for some, this is their lives. for some, just part time work. if you haven't been to a fair this year, you really need to go. grab your own kid, or niece/nephew, neighbor. it is more fun through a childs eyes. watch that game where you drop the quarters in front of the tractor that pushes them to the edge and hopefully they will drop off and you will leave a few quarters richer or with some neat prize. there are holes at the sides, and the quarters fall through. otherwise, the fair is a great place to be.
eat some cotton candy for me please.

stress and moving Aug 5, 2005 8:27 pm

i find it more stressful to move someone else at the moment. my daughter is coming home. she lives in anacortes washington, and i live in illinois. she is working two jobs, so therefore, that leaves me to make the plans to get her and her belongings from point a to point b. difficult to do this when i cannot be sure what she is bringing, only have half*** idea. we have a limited budget, and movers want quite a bit these days, regardless of if you have them pack for you, or if you pack and load yourself. then you have to worry if they are a reputable company. one rents spaces in their semi, and then fill the rest of the trailer with other items, which you have no idea what they are shipping. considering the cost, it is cheaper to "rent" a mover than it is to rent a moving truck and do it all yourself. she is a single parent, so she will have to drive across the states with her little boy, so i am flying out so she won't have to do that drive alone. now, if only samantha stevens would fly by on her broom and twitch that little nose of hers, i think my life would be less stressful for a minute or two!

ugh. up at 5:30 am. (actually, alarm set for 5, but i am a snooze pusher!) where is my knight that will pay me to stay home? doesn't have to be with me, or marry me, just send me money each week or drop a big bunch on me so i can afford to stay home?
never mind, i would probably get bored to death and go to work again eventually anyways.
cya!

A Special Heaven

There is a special heaven
For little boys today
Because the little boys died
At work and not at play
They died protecting us
From all things that were bad
And now that they are gone
It makes their mommies sad
So we made a special heaven
For these special little boys
Now they can watch over us
And play with all their toys
There are no guns in heaven
They are not needed there
They have all the water they want
There is plenty there to share
They are not dodging bullets
There is no pain to feel
There’s lots of food for them to eat
No more ready to eat meals
The beds are soft and comfy
Begging to be crawled into
But the boys just run around
There’s so much more to do
The weather stays the same
Regardless night or day
Not too hot and not too cold
For them to run and play
Until the day their mommies
Can be with them again
There is a special heaven
For these special little men

another day another ?? Aug 4, 2005 12:44 pm

here i am back again, like a bad penny!! lol. i could not post anything last night because i had too bad of a headache, which is fairly unusual for me, and today i had appointments too early. so here i am now!! another day another me. not really, i am the same me, i just went to the chiropractor and he fixed my headache, so i am a better me.
to all of those of you who are young, i only have one bit of advice for you, well at least today only one bit. another day i will give you another bit.
do not get old.
if you get old, you can only do cartwheels in your head.
if you get old, your mate will think you are having an affair with your doctor, because you will be seeing your doctor more than you are seeing your mate.
if you get old, young people will look at you pityfully because they know you can only do cartwheels in your head and that you are having an affair with your doctor.
oh, i am not really old. just sometimes i feel like i am. like when my grandson hugs me tight and says to me "Nana, you are OOLLLLLD!" gives me a laugh, but makes me remember i can't chase him too well either. lol. and they do say, you are only as old as you feel. hmmmmmmmmm, some days i feel at least 94. this morning i felt 85,l but now i feel 45, lol. how do you know the number of how old you feel? i have seen some 90 year olds that get around better than i do sometimes tho, lolol.
ok, i will quit the babbling for now. gonna go outside with my grandson and see if i can fell like i am 4 again, or at least 10, but no cartwheels!! my chiropractor doesn't need that much money!!!
