Blind as a badgers bum

If i had my choice,
I'd not have chosen you.
If i had waited,
waited 'til kingdom come.
I'd ignore that fecker Cupid
and have myself something blonde and stupid.
But love is as blind as a badgers bum
(and smells a bit like donkey pooh).

You let yourself be caught
By some catastrophic thought
And now you're shaking like a little girl who's lost.
Let your feelings master you
and i promise this is true,
You're the one who'll always count the cost.
Remember it's a choice
wether you listen or not to that voice,
That's telling you such cruel and petty lies.
You can be at ease,
if that is what you please
and win the fight
no matter your demons size.

A pal o mine asked me to write a poem for her friend who lost her hubby a few years back to comemorate his passing.
The first one i don't like the repitition of "i know you're dead" (said in exasperation- like i know you're dead! Now stop reminding me) but if i just remove them the poem needs an ending and it needs work anyhoo. So any suggestions would be appreciated. The second one i think may be too sentimental. What d'yer think?

I hear you laughing at the joke in my head
(i know you're dead, i know you're dead)
You nod and smile at my remark unsaid
(i know you're dead, i know you're dead)
i turn to you though you are not there
Your absence smarts but i shall not care
Life and love are seldom fair
You gave me all you had to share
You're still in my heart and still in my head
(i know you're dead, i know you're dead)
I see your footprints in my lonesome tread
(i know you're dead, I know you're dead!)

Love is my memory of you

The form of you may be gone
But your strength still holds me upright.
There is warmth and comfort in remembering
A life so generous and bright.
My reward is having known you.
I shall know you now forever
We are roped and kindly tethered
In bonds that shall not sever,
Love remains at the dying of the day
While all must pass it shall stay.
And love is my memory of you.

Horribly wonderful.

Blacker than all the nights put together
Brighter than all the days
I have loved you in so many
Horrible, wonderful ways.
And when over my last bed
Some idiot preacher prays
Be sure of this one thing he says
I had loved you
And still love you
In so many horrible,
Wonderful
Ways.

When you are old
and counting the last of your days.
When your blood runs cold and slow
And your time is spent
In small degrees
Where-ever the elderly play,
I shall still love you
My love,
In so many horrible,
Wonderful
Ways.

How to kill a monster

Pay no heed to the monsters,
they're stupid and they lie,
they're petty and they're puerile
and they want to make you cry.

Pay the monsters little mind,
they're bad beneath the skin.
They care not a jot who loses
as long as you don't win.

Give nothing to those monsters
to feed their cruelty on.
Think only blessed kindnesses
and they'll move along anon.

6 goin on 60

The six year old me remains
Still waving at broom-broom busses and choo-choo trains.
Jumping in puddles whenever it rains.
Gettin' all hexcited when i spot dem hairy planes.
Still suffering from growing pains.
The six year old me remains.

Twatus Americanus

If you can throw a wobbler
like an ignorant wee .
If you can stamp your feet
and ha'e a damn good greet.
If you can spout pure drivel
yet still believe you're clever.
You are a twat my
and what is more
You'll be a twat forever

5 Words.

I caught another of your kisses last night.
It fluttered to my fingers as you put your make-up on.
I put it with the others
Underneeth the covers
Hidden from the jealous gaze of the bed-side light.
Quietly enshrining the bed we sleep upon

Lying where we lie.

I caught another of your lies last night.
It fluttered to the floor as you put your make-up on.
I put it with the others
Underneeth the covers
Hidden from the honest gaze of the bed-side light.
Quietly corrupting the bed we sleep upon.
