Wow, this week kind of went by fast. :) Sep 15, 2005 8:05 pm

Hmmm, already almost to Friday. This week went fast. Workwise it was a good week. Personally it was the week from hell with lots of issues going on.

Fortunately I LIKE my job right now. I don't know what I'd do if my workplace was stressful.

I'm feeling pretty good right now, this evening anyway. I haven't had much time however to spend on FF with my group.

A couple of days without blogging. Sep 14, 2005 8:01 pm
Mood: drained, 1106 Views
Hello to everyone who reads my thoughts. I didn't do a blog for two days in a row. There was quite a bit going on here, most of it none too pleasant. Let's just say I didn't feel like expressing my personal feelings on a ff blog.

I'm back now and things are more or less back to normal. It's almost 10:00 PM though on a Wednesday night and it seems like the days are rushing by.

I will say right now that I don't need anymore complications in my life. I've got plenty of them to go around and then some right now.

Reflections on 9/11. Sep 11, 2005 12:20 pm

Hmm, today is 9/11/05 the anniversary of the now infamous attack on America. I'll never forget what I was doing.

I was in class and a colleague came in and told me that an airliner had crashed into one of the World Trade Centers. My initial reaction was that perhaps it was an accident, but when I turned on the tv in my room I realized that both towers had been hit and then they showed the Pentagon had been hit as well.

I was almost numb trying to absorb the true implications of what I was seeing. I knew immediately it was Bin Laden that was responsible.

I watched as the towers came tumbling down, first one and then the other with the people still trapped inside. I only learned later of the brave firefighters who died trying to get people out.

My first reaction was anger and the desire to get revenge on the people responsible. I felt that President Bush handled the crisis in a statesmanlike way and was an inspiring leader.

Unfortunately I also feel that only 4 years later that we have truly forgotten who was responsible and have devoted most of our time and efforts on Iraq rather than trying to bring the perpetrators to justice or to kill them so they can't ever hurt us again.

I remember also that I didn't go into my other job which conducts public opinion polls. I just didn't want to call people and ask them their opinion about 9/11 ON 9/11.

At the time I talked to my students about how the attacks would forever alter the way things are done in this country.

I knew that the major change would be in aircraft surrender policies, because no one had perceived the danger of surrendering an airplane to hijackers whose intention was to kami-kazi into targets and kill themselves to prove a point.

Now only 4 years later it seems to me like America has pretty much returned to normal albeit with some serious changes in some security policies.

I could have sworn I wrote a blog on here last night, but this morning there's no record that I did.

I had a fairly surreal Saturday. I worked about 4 hours, then went to the bar where my friend worked and watched 1/2 of the Nebraska football game versus Wake Forest. At halftime I went on home and watched the rest of the game.

A couple friends showed up at the end and we did RPG's until about 11:30 PM.

I won't say too much, but I've got a lot of things on my mind and they are causing lots of emotional feelings to come out.

I sometimes wish I could just take about 5 days and sit on an island by myself and think about my life and my future. I just feel pressured sometimes about my own future.

Hmmm, went out after work twice today first going with some friends for pizza after school got out and then going out to a karaoke bar after my other job let out.

I even sang a duet of "I Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher. It was kind of cool.

Hmmmm got home around 1:00AM and am ready for bed as I'm kind of tired. It's been a long but pretty good day.

Well tomorrow is already Friday and another weekend has arrived, woohoo!!! It seems like this week went by really fast to me.

I hope this will be a relaxing weekend. I don't have an overly pushy work schedule, nor do I have any major plans.

Tomorrow night I'll work a little and then go out like I usually do on Friday nights. On Saturday, I'll probably chill out and hang out with some friends.

Sunday, I'll maybe watch a little pro football and work some more.

I wish there was something more exciting going on but there isn't .

Wow! Midweek Already :) Sep 7, 2005 9:44 pm

Hmmm one thing nice about Labor Day and that is that you are back to work and it's already midweek and you're about to head into another weekend.

I can ALMOST take a breath this weekend as I don't have ANY major plans, nor am I excessively burdened with work because there's an hours break at my other job for Labor Day.

The weather is soon going to start getting cooler. Around here, the Fall is the most beautiful and pleasant time of the year.

Nebraska's football team plays at home this weekend against Wake Forest. I think they'll win but I don't think this team is going to be great. This past weekend they didn't exactly blow out the University of Maine which is not even a division I program, winning only 25-7.

Pro football also begins this weekend, so we're about to go full fledged into the football season around here.

Okay well Labor Day to me has always sort of signified the complete end to the summer. Around here the pools all close after Labor Day and school is now in full swing. The weather here begins to rapidly get milder and more pleasant. Fall is the nicest time of year around here.

It seems like this past year just flew by to me. I wish sometimes I could slow things down but I'm reminded of the Joni Mitchell song, Circle Game about how the seasons, they go round and round. We can't return we can only look behind from where we came, and go round and round and round in the circle game.

This past Summer was one of the most enjoyable one's I've had in a long time. I'm sad to see it end, but I think this next year should be one of the most intriguing I've experienced in over 25 years.

Well had a nice little end of Summer mini-vacation. Didn't do a whole lot, but spent some time chilling out with my son.

I arrived back home about 7:30 PM CST this evening and spent a little time online. Getting ready to go to bed now.

Hope no one missed me too much. LOL!

A Lazy Sunday. Sep 4, 2005 9:42 am
Mood: thoughtful, 1459 Views
Hmmm, kind of a lazy Sunday today. Normally I'd have to be getting ready to leave and go back home, but because tomorrow is a holiday I've got today to kind of relax and chill.

We got up this morning about 8:30 and went and had breakfast. Then we came back and came over to the student center, but we were the only ones here, cause it's too early. So my son went back to his room to go back to bed and I stayed here to keep posting on FF.

I'm feeling pretty good generally about things. The school year is off to a great start and I'm really happy about that.

Sometimes I'm still torn about my future life. I want to live life to the fullest in the future, but still regret leaving behind a glorious and at times lovely past. Still, I can't go back to the life of the past 5 years and I won't.

Still, I won't say that I don't sometimes wish life was simpler. I think it would help a lot if I had someone around here to shower attention upon and who could shower it back upon me.

That may happen in the next year, who knows.
