| Well Time for Football Season :) |

Mood: devious, 712 Views |  | Well ladies if you've got a man in your life who's a football fan today is the beginning of the U.S. pro football season. Now is the time to ask him for the credit card so you can go shopping. 
As long as he's got a beer, and his remote he'll be fine but he might seem distant and somewhat detached. LOL!
I'm not a huge pro fan but I love the college game so for me the big day to watch and pay attention is Saturday. I am a moderate fan of the pro game. It just so happens my favorite pro team the Detroit Lions are on television today playing the former NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks.
Anyway do not despair ladies for Sunday is a day you can go out on your own to shop or meet up with your friends while the man in your life sits as if on drugs in front of the tube screaming for his favorite team. LOL!
And be aware that it'll all be back to normal by the first Sunday in February. |

| Hmmmm Sitting Here Tonight :) |

Mood: content, 719 Views |  | Well it's Saturday night 8:54 PM CDT as I write this. Today went really fast because last night I got home about 1:00 and ended up staying up until 3:00 AM . *Don't ask, cause I'm not telling anyway* Well then this morning I woke up at 11:44 AM. LMAO! That's one way to make the day go very quickly is to start it at almost noon.
So then I put in about 3.7 hours at my other job and came home, fixed dinner, IMed some friends and sat and watched the first half of #1-Ohio State vs. #2-Texas. The game is okay but I'm getting bored and I'm considering going back to karaoke again tonight.
Saturday has become my "option" night now where I have time to do something if I can only find something to do or someone to do it with. LOL!
The last two weeks I made the mistake of driving across town only to find out my club wasn't doing karaoke but tonight I know they are so I'm thinking of sneaking over there for a couple hours just to get out of the house.
It's been cloudy and rainy here today and the temps have been cool. It's amazing to me how fast it changes here from Summer into Fall. It's been even faster this year because Labor Day was a lot more like Fall this year than it was like Summer as in years past.
Fall is the nicest time of the year around here. The nights are cool and the days are warm and pleasant. Plus the trees turn colors and drop their leaves.
I want to have a housewarming party for my new place but so far almost all my friends live about 1 day's drive away. LOL!
Ah well enough blathering, think I'll go sing again for a little while. Hope everyone has a great weekend. |

| Friendship :) |

Mood: nostalgic, 848 Views |  | Okay the non-competitive blog theme topic is friendship. Write about anything to do with friendship that you wish to. Don't worry we're not going to vote on it so you don't have to impress anyone just write from the heart.
I don't think I really knew what friendship was until I came to FF. When I came here in Feb. 2004, I was lonely, upset and unhappy. I felt my life was going down the tubes.
I had spent quite a bit of time posting to chess discussion groups so I thought I would try out FF discussion groups to see if I could meet some people. Well I fell in love with the television/movies group. I used to work in a theater back in the 70's so considered myself somewhat of an expert on classic film. But once I started posting to television movies it became much more like a party filled with wonderful and fun people than a discussion group. Within two months the television/movies group soared to the top of the boards as THE most popular discussion group on FF. My computer was a Mac and it was very antiquated, so I couldn't even install most of the IM systems because they just wouldn't work.
I fell in love with the people. Wonderful people that I still am friends with like Kariann, Kaz, Lynney, Emma, Paul, and Kelly. Many of them were lonely like me and we all started hanging out together on FF on Friday and Saturday nights. We had more fun chit chatting with each other on tv/movies than we did going out. I even called our group of crazies the WNLC for Weekend No Lifers Club. TV/movies board still sits at the top today with over 63,000 posts, more than 3/4ths of them by me and all my wonderful friends that I love so much.
No matter what happens to me in the future I don't think there's any way that I can ever give up or forget my friends. Since 2004, I've met dozens more. Some of my closest friends I have met since January when I became active here on the blogs.
Anyway I consider the friends of made here to be a treasure in my life. I love them with all my heart. Some of them more than others. LOL! Friends are my drug of choice |

| Non-Competitive Theme Blogging. |

Mood: hopeful, 918 Views |  | Okay not to take anything from the people who need to be the best to be inspired but I am considering another idea along the lines of the blog competition. Instead of voting for someone being better than someone else maybe some of us would feel more comfortable merely blogging on a particular theme.
I don't much care if someone likes my blog better than someone else's blog. To me blogging is a personal expression of one's self.
When someone starts voting it is a kind of a put down in my opinion of everyone else's efforts. Why does it matter if 10 people liked someone's blog entry and only 1 person liked someone else's blog? To me that is almost an absurdity. I don't write my blog entries to win votes from people in a popularity contest.
I would be willing to take part in a theme of the week blogging activity but I'm not going to any longer take part in competitions over whose blog entries are superior as voted on based on some unknown criterion. |

| The End of Summer. |

Mood: contemplative, 815 Views |  | Oh sure people know it officially doesn't end until the equinox on Sept 22nd, but for me and most of the other people in the United States, the unofficial end of the summer is Labor Day weekend.
Once a holiday that marked the start of the school year and student attendance it isn't even that anymore. Most schools have already started, some almost three weeks ago. Labor Day is now more like a small last island in an ocean of the rest of the year as Summer takes its final bow and leaves us for 9 months until Memorial Day rolls around at the very end of May.
One of my favorite songs is by Green Day, called Wake Me Up, When September Ends. One of the lines is, "Summer has gone and passed, the innocence can never last, wake me up, when September ends."
Actually I love September because it is cool but not hot and it is also the start of a new school year for me filled with new challenges and new young people to meet and get to know. Everyone starts fresh and the slate of all previous transgressions by either teacher or student are wiped clean.
September is one of the reasons I love teaching, it is a period of renewal. Even though the Summer is exiting a new school year is just beginning.
I was originally supposed to be in St. Louis but I cancelled the trip because my son had to work the entire time I would have been there. So today I just watched the opening of the Nebraska Cornhusker football season and relaxed.
Labor Day is my last chance to savor a Summer filled with change and to catch up on my sleep. |

Mood: angry, 927 Views |  | Manipulation, control, possessiveness and temper tantrums no longer work on me, they just piss me off.
I am a free spirit now and no one is going to control me or tell me what to do. I will do what I think is best for my own well being and will not allow someone to manipulate me or play games with me.
Right now I have a lot of people who care about me and I care about a lot of people. I have no intention of falling for and devoting myself to a single individual right now. I'm simply not ready to do that. Attempts to try to make me do that are certain to make me pull the opposite direction.
Tonight I am pissed off because of some rude, childishness and jealousy among some people that I care about. I am going to bed to try and forget about it.
If these people want to not talk to me anymore then that is their choice. It will tell me that they must not have really cared that much themselves if they can stop talking to me because I dare to actually talk to someone else female. They are NOT married to me. They are NOT my wife. They have a LOT of nerve acting like they are.

Mood: cheerful, 831 Views |  | Hahahaha to some that may be good news and to others, hmmmmmmmm . Wow this last weekend just zoomed past and it's amazing how quick the weekend goes and how quickly a new workweek is already here.
It was a pretty busy weekend for me which is one reason why I didn't do too many blogs. First on Friday of course we had our first "socialization skills" meeting of some of our faculty members at school. These meetings involved some light to moderate lifting of glasses filled with drink. Then it was on to work and from there on to karaoke.
Didn't arrive home until really late and went to sleep on what was by then very early Saturday morning. Then on Saturday, I did some desperately needed grocery shopping, ran some errands and then worked another 4.0 hours at my other job. On Saturday night I just decided to stay home, relax and go online all night. LOL! I'm not commenting anymore on that
Then on Sunday I drove up to Lincoln to see my little brother who is in town for a week from Portland, Maine. My older brother hosted a get together and we had pizza, cheesecake, key lime pie and there was some light lifting of glasses with drink in them. LOL! Then it was home and straight to work for yet another 4.3 hours. About 9:15 PM I arrived home and spent the rest of the evening online once again and once again I'm saying nothing more about that. LOL
So that's what's been going on is pretty much the same old, same old with a lot of work thrown in for good measure.
I am slowly getting back into the school schedule and routine. Football season is starting up this week and I'm getting cable just in the nick of time.
This next weekend should be busy once again as I intend to go visit my boy in St. Louis which will take up some days of the vacation for driving. Hopefully the weather which has been cool and rainy will stay that way because I love it like this.
Well that's about it for now, so if you were going to come searching for me to see if I'm alright then you can rest easy. Of course if you want to just come and search for me for other reasons more exciting I won't mind that either. LOL! |
