This got some nice responses last time so I'm doing it again, but I'll try to come up with some different things I wanta do with other bloggers.

A Rare Day Home For Lunch :) Oct 2, 2006 9:46 am

Hmmmm no students today, just meetings so that means I get the rare opportunity to come home for lunch and get on FF for a few minutes.

Of course naturally when I get here there's no one that I know online LOL! One of life's little ironies.

So why not write a blog? The weekend went way too fast and I suppose the fact that I had to work about 12 hours and I had to help supervise our school's homecoming dance made it go even faster than it normally would have.

Not too much going in Brucey's life right except that he spends an inordinate amount of time online and he's not playing Tetris. LOL!

I love my online friends, every one of them. (Some more than others ). They are such a part of my life now that I really can't envision going back to a life without them.

Well that's about it for now. I just made my lunch, loaded my dishwasher and cleaned up my kitchen before I have to take off to make it to afternoon meetings on the other side of town (thrill)

What does music mean to you? Can you imagine a world without song or music? Music to me reflects the very joys and sorrows of our lives. Tell us what type of music inspires you, makes you happy or makes you sad? Then tell us one of your favorite songs. For me music is a gateway to reflecting upon my feelings. I can use music to cheer me up when I'm down. Sometimes songs make me cry if they remind me of things in my past. I have many favorite songs and groups but I'm going to list one of my favorites, which is Yesterday by The Beatles.

I think I am getting better in terms of my willingness to speak up and say things that need to be said. I'd say that if I have one weakness as a person it has always been my unwillingness to upset someone else unnecessarily, to tell them off, to speak words that need to be spoken and in this case to even be brave enough to approach a person I know is upset with me and apologize to them.

This has nothing to do with a FF friend, so I want to say that because my friends on here might read this and think I'm talking about them or something, which I'm not.

There is this lady at karaoke that is a real character and she and I used to have a lot of fun. About a month ago I came up to her and was kidding her around about something which is so typical of me. Well I apparently said something that I meant as teasing but it upset her a great deal. She was furious with me and it wasn't just that night, she gave me the cold shoulder and started ignoring me for the most part. It was obvious that she was ignoring me.

Mind you she never said to me that she was upset with me and why which made it harder for me to know or understand what was wrong. Well yesterday my friend Ronda who works at the bar, was out with me after school and she said, "Laura is so mad at you." At that point my mouth dropped open and I said, "She is? Why?" Then she told me it was because of that teasing comment I had made to her in jest a few weeks ago and she was really upset about it.

Okay now do you know how hard it is to approach a person you know is mad at you for something you said and tell them you're sorry to their face? Well that is hard, but last night Laura arrived later in the evening at karaoke and I was determined that I still wanted her as a friend so I decided to take the chance of her blasting me and we both happened to leave at the same time.

I called to her as she was about 15 feet in front of me and I told her how sorry I was that I had hurt her feelings and I asked her to forgive me. She came up to me told me that she was very upset and she gave me a huge hug and said that everything was cool now. I told her I sometimes say things that are meant in jest and they get taken wrong and that I wish I had known that she was upset and I would have apologized sooner. She just assumed I think that I knew she was mad and why. Anyway it gave me a good feeling to apologize to her and have her accept and give me a big hug. (Actually several)

You can't know how scared I was of further rejection. If she had said, to get lost I would have crawled into a hole to hide somewhere.

I guess there are several morals to this story:

1) Be careful of potentially hurtful things said in jest.

2) Don't ever be too proud to apologize and know if you're in the wrong.

3) Trust that if people like you and you make an effort to meet them half way they will usually respond.

4) Tell people when you're upset because if you don't, they might not even know you are.

5) Always apologize at the right moment and not at the wrong moment.

6. Above all never lose a wonderful friendship over unsaid apologies or because of being to proud to admit you were wrong.

Hmmm well on my discussion board right now one of the topics is to pick a song that describes you which I suppose to me means, a song that captures some of my feelings about life, love and romance so I decided what the heck, I'll post the same song here that I posted on my group.

I love this song. It is my absolute favorite song that Sting has ever done. I actually bought the CD with this song on it and listen primarily to this song because I love it so much.

Wow it's already Monday. Where the heck did the weekend go? LOL! I had to work 12.4 hours over the weekend at my other job so maybe that's why it seemed to rush by. Or maybe it's because on Saturday my brother took me to a Nebraska football game in Lincoln and so I left my place at about 10:30 AM (shortly after getting up) worked 4.4 hours and then drove up to Lincoln to go to the afforementioned game which was a 56-0 Husker blowout. Then by the time I got home it was around 11:00 PM and after stopping at my favorite karaoke hangout to sing one song I headed home.

On Sunday chatted online again before going into work at about 5:30. Ended up staying until almost 10:00 PM but overall had a good week.

Now this morning it's back to the salt mines. LOL! This week is shaping up as another busy weekend with my school's homecoming parade and game set for Friday and the big homecoming dance set for Saturday night.

I help supervise the dance because I prefer working homecoming to working prom which is in April.

We have already completed 4.5 weeks of school which is hard to believe. The way things work this year we are completely finished with a year's course work in what used to be 1/2 of a year.

This is because instead of having 8 45 minute classes per day we have 4 90 minute classes. It's called a block schedule and it's kind of interesting.

Kind of relaxing right now prior to heading off to my second job.

Although many people love the Summer, I have always loved the Fall the best. I'm not sure exactly why but I think it's partly because it's the most beautiful and pleasant part of the year here in Nebraska.

Summer is too hot, Winter is too cold and Spring is too muddy, windy and unstable, but Fall stays for several months and entertains.

Fall is a time when the harvest comes in. Fall is a time when we go and buy new clothes for our kids or ourselves to go back to school.

As a teacher, Fall is a time where kids on their best behavior and we have a chance to begin shaping a whole new set of young minds for another school year.

Fall is a time for the end of the baseball season and the World Series. Fall is a time when football season begins, my favorite sport.

Fall is a time when Thanksgiving occurs, and we prepare for Christmas. Fall is a time of renewal for me. I can still go in short sleeves during the day but can wear a light jacket at night.

Fall is a time when the apples are ready to pick and eat. I have an apple tree in my back yard. Fall is a time where the trees are fabulously beautiful along the river and one can take a lover or a spouse for a drive to soak up the beauty with someone special.

Fall is a time when I can turn off both my heat and my air conditioner for at least one week. LOL!

Fall is my favorite time of the year. How about you?

Fun But Busy Weekend :) Sep 23, 2006 8:36 am

This weekend is packed full of things to do. Last night I worked at my other job from 5-9 and then went to karaoke. When I first got there it was pretty dead and only the DJ and I were singing.

But then around 11:00 PM a whole bunch of people some of them my friends came in almost at the same time. It ended up being a really fun night and I stayed until closing. I got to sing 6 times including 1 duet with the DJ.

Got home around 1:40 AM and then naturally could not resist going online to chat with some friends. Ended up going to bed about 3:00 and woke up this morning at about 10:00AM.

On Thursday my older brother invited me to come to the Nebraska football game with him so I have to go to work first, get in about 4 hours and then head up to Lincoln by about 4:00-4:30 so we have time to eat and then get to the stadium.

The game will last about 3.5 hours so I don't expect to be back home until midnight or so tonight.

Then tomorrow I'll still have to get in about 4 more hours at my job, but should have time to do some grocery shopping and relax.

All in all a fun but busy weekend.
