Hmmm a Rare Friday Night Without Karaoke :) Dec 29, 2006 10:35 pm
Mood: 19, 589 Views
Well I'm still in St. Louis so no karaoke tonight. However I'm not really complaining because I sang Wednesday night, Tuesday night and will sing on Sunday night and Tuesday night next week too.

Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow night. I will be back home tomorrow though so who knows maybe someone will drop by to say hi. LOL!

Anyway the trip to St. Louis has been fun but I'm ready to be back in my own bed and getting geared up for New Years.

Bloggin' from the Cardinal City :) Dec 28, 2006 9:39 am
515 Views
Well it's now almost noon here on Thursday morning in St. Louis. It's in the 40's again today and the sun is shining.

I'm downstairs with the cat writing a blog on my son in law's computer. My son is still asleep but we're going out to lunch at Joe's Crab Shack when he gets up. I've never eaten there before but he works there and he says the food is good.

Not sure what else is on the agenda for today but might go check out a museum near here that is currently featuring a Rembrandt exhibition.

I am not far from one of America's most prestigious universities, Washington University. In fact my daughter lives in a part of St. Louis called University City.

Last night I drove down through what is called "The Loop" and saw the campus of the university. The Loop is sort of a night hot spot for teens and college kids.

As I reported last night my son in law, my son and I went out to a bar last night to karaoke. I ended up singing 5 songs. We had a lot of fun and of course it was interesting to see how the karaoke scene in St. Louis compares to what it's like in Omaha.

Right now this computer doesn't have YIM or MSN on it, so I must use my cell to IM other people if I want to chat with them, but that's okay because so far things are fun and are going well.

Karaoking in St. Louis :) Dec 27, 2006 11:33 pm

Woohoo, arrived in the land of the arches today about 7:00 PM. After eating some pizza and opening gifts, my son and my son in law took me to a karoake bar here in St. Louis called Bar 101.

It was pretty crowded and it was ladies night so women got in free. This particular bar charged a cover charge to get in but it is a pretty big place with a dance floor on one side and a separate room for karaoke on the other side.

Ended up getting to sing 4 solos and duet so it was a pretty fun night and my son and my son in law both sang too.

It was a pretty long ways away from my daughter's house however so it took almost 30 minutes to get there and another 30 minutes to get back home.

So far everything is going great, the weather was abnormally warm today as well at about 50 degrees.

The moon tonight was very cool as it was a half moon but we saw it on the horizon on the way home just coming up. I had never seen a harvest half moon before, probably because I'm not normally out driving on a clear night at about 1:00 AM

A Tale of Three Christmases :) Dec 26, 2006 12:30 pm
Mood: 13, 595 Views
Well this year I'll really be celebrating three different Christmases in three different places on three different days. Hahaha NOT that I'm complaining.

First I had Christmas at home, now tomorrow we're driving to St. Louis to have Christmas with my daughter and son.

Then when I get back, my mom and my brother want us to come to Lincoln to have Christmas with them.

So all in all this should be a busy tri-Christmas celebration. Wooooo and I almost forgot I have been enjoying some yummy pecan pie

Would you like a piece? Come on over Better hurry though

Ahhh Christmas Eve, Presents, Family, Thoughts of Food and A Backed Up Sink. :) Dec 24, 2006 9:47 am

hahahaha, well I'm sitting here this morning talking to someone on IM and suddenly I hear this strange noise coming from my kitchen. So not particularly liking strange noises and it being Christmas Eve and all, I get up and see that both of my kitchen sinks are filled to the top with water and it is running down the sides onto the floor.

Ahhhh, yet another Christmas revelation comes to me that I should have bought a plunger but didn't. So instead I race for a big 44 oz drink cup and start bailing water as fast as I can and fortunately the people up above did NOT run anymore water down the drain into my sink.

I called the emergency number and they called a plumber but it took him about an hour to get here. As it turned out, no amount of plunging or silly drain cleaner would have made a difference, it was blocked about 25 feet down and a snake was needed to rout it out of there. The plumber just left and everything is all good now except for 6 full sized sopped bath towels and a still wet floor.

All in all it could have been a horrible disaster if I had been away on a trip like I was last year at this time. Fortunately I was here and caught it before it became a very serious problem.

The plumber found lots of long hair in the sink, meaning that women have been washing their hair in the sink and that is something they should never do.

Doesn't it always seem like emergencies like this happen on holidays? It's like your air conditioner always quits working when it's 104 and you've got company coming for the 4th of July. Last year my refrigerator went out right after Christmas. I remember when we went to Atlanta one Christmas my SIL's oven element burned out on Christmas Day. One time my mom's oven burned out on Thanksgiving Day and one time my mom's drain backed up on Easter Sunday. LOL!

Anyway now I can relax and do some final Christmas shopping as well as do some wrapping. What a morning.

Dang It's Coming Fast. Dec 23, 2006 5:54 pm
Mood: 39, 581 Views
Geez I only just got off work yesterday and now tomrrow is already Christmas Eve. Because of Christmas and New Year both falling on a Monday they decided to let us out the 22nd instead of the 14th like they did last year. The good news is that we don't have to be back until Monday Jan. 8th. The bad news is that I feel like I have to rush to finish my shopping in time. Today I got quite a bit done, bought some important gifts for some people that I was looking for but hadn't gotten yet.

Tomorrow most places will be closing by 5:00 PM so I'll have to get out and go if I want to get anything else bought by Christmas day.

Bought our turkey today too. It's a 15 pounder so that should be yummy. I love turkey. I don't mind at all having it on both Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Well today I went shopping from about 10-1 and then went to work. Then I went shopping directly after work and got some major items. Hahahaha I even got some Cadbury Fingers which I'm sure Lynney would like

Now I'm home making dinner. I'm having baked chicken tonight. After that I'm undecided as to whether I'll go out or not.

I went to karaoke last night and had a nice time. Got to sing 5 times which was 3 more times than last week when I only got in twice. You know it's really interesting to watch women when they are not getting along with someone they care about. Last night two younger women that I am casual friends with, were both using every signal of body language in the book to let their husband/former boyfriend know they were in the bar. LOL!

I notice people's behavior a lot more than I used to. I don't know why, but I see the way people act. Some are trying to send none too subtle messages, but I think the guys are a little dense sometimes and don't pick up on it too well. LOL!

Maybe if the women were more direct they would get more satisfaction or at least the man would know they're pissed at them. Instead there are a lot of passive aggressive games being played. I'll bet the one lady who is married really let her husband have it after they left. She was really angry, because he played darts most of the night. I don't think she wanted to play darts. So instead she went over and sat and talked to other guys. I could tell by the look in her eyes and her facial expression that she was upset with her husband. I don't think he had a clue though and if he did he didn't probably understand why?

Well I hope everyone has a great Christmas anyway. I'll be on some tomorrow but then I might be offline for much of Christmas Day. I might write a blog but won't be posting a lot until Tuesday probably. Everyone have fun and hope that it is relaxing and enjoyable to you wherever you are and whomever you are with.

Christmas Pot Luck :) Dec 19, 2006 3:20 pm
Mood: 24, 642 Views
Hmmm tonight at my other job, they're having a Christmas pot luck supper. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out because unlike at Thanksgiving the company is not supplying the main course which was turkey and mashed potatoes so in this case it will only be what the people eating bring.

For me, I have no time to really make anything so I am just taking some store bought Christmas cookies. They do look yummy though, I will say that.

Hmmmmm, okay it is kind of strange around here for late December with temps above 40 degrees. There is a huge storm coming but no one knows if it will hit us or if it will as usually either go south or north?

It seems too warm to snow much here but I have heard that there could be ice which would be nasty.
