Mood: gloomy, 1736 Views | | It was 1100 hours and we had been on the march for 4 hours, There was still a blanket of fog coverin' the lowlands. General Jackson had taken an air temperature in the shade and it was up to 88 degrees. It felt more like 108 degrees. Our wool uniforms were soaking wet and sticking to us. The mosquitos were eatin' us alive. I never liked wool. It makes me itch. HQ had been promisin' us cotton, but those Yank pirates kept interceptin' our supply line. I thought I been hearin' thunder but now I know it was cannon fire. I saw a glint up on the ridge and the lieutenant let me look through his spyglass. I was stunned at what I saw. Not three or four cannon like we was pullin with us, but maybe a half dozen or more. Just about that time, right after I handed the spyglass back, we heard a terrible shriek like I never before heard! It sounded to me like ten thousand vultures. I covered my ears and looked around and I could not beleive my eyes when I saw a gaping hole in our front line! There was groanin and hollerin from either side, but nothin from the middle...just a shredded pile of red and grey. That night when we was gnawin' on hardtack and drinkin' that bitter black syrup that they called "coffee", I overheard a story that the Yanks was chainin' two balls together before detonating the cannon. The two balls connected by the chain would slice through our lines like a hot knife through freshly churned butter. At first light, we break camp and resume our march forward with forty less men. Will this Lincoln ever relent, or will he fight until there is no more south or north? | |

Mood: eager, 1685 Views | | I made a GENEROUS offer to settle OUT OF COURT for THIRTY TWO MILLION DOLLARS on my workman's comp insurance BUT they DECLINED my offer. I will be in touch with my attorneys who told me that I SHOULD have been granted a HEARING on my workman's comp insurance about my injury on the job. I am going to KEEP ON calling the insurance company and hassling them and I am going to KEEP on sending them emails. This may drag out for YEARS. I may start a CLASS ACTION law suit against Rockwood Casualty Insurance if I can locate other injury victims who have been denied claims on their workman's compensation. | |
