Time to Whine Some More Jul 16, 2009 2:27 pm
Mood: frustrated, 790 Views
I am moved into my new place now. I still don't have any water because it costs $46 for a deposit to get the water turned on so I will have to live without it until July 24. I hope I don't catch typhoid fever. I used to take it for granted that I could wash my hands before I eat or take a shower or flush the toilet. Poverty makes you really appreciate the basic things in life. I am still without transportation too. My car is stranded at an old neighbor's house back in Maryland until I can come up with the money to get the brakes fixed. Fortunately my apartment is within walking distance of the store and post office. I was wanting to get to the food bank but that is 10 miles away. I have lost about 40 pounds so far but I am not skinny looking yet. I think I can last another couple of weeks before the weight loss becomes very noticeable. I do have some food so I shouldn't lose too much more before my money comes. I still do not have a cell phone yet either but at least I have cable tv! Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket last month. I might have been a multi-millionaire now. Oh well...

My Return From the Dead Jun 30, 2009 12:28 pm
Mood: unbelievable, 986 Views
A few of you may remember the prediction that I made of my death last winter, and that the date wound up being a few months premature. I have once again cheated death after a rather crazy adventure. I went missing on Friday and had not realized that I was the subject of a nationwide manhunt until my family somehow tracked me down yesterday. I had found myself in jail after leading police on a morphine induced haze but I am OK now. I hope I am detoxed now because the withdrawal symptoms were not fun. MORE...on this later.

When I go to a Yard Sale or Flea Market I Look for... Jun 1, 2009 11:05 am

...1. clothing for my grand children / great nephews and nieces/ family and friends children, etc.

2. toys for the grand kids, etc.

3. books to read or give to friends.

4. nick-nacks to put on the shelf at home.

5. items to add to MY personal collection(s).

6. items to SELL at a higher price for a profit.

7. other

If you selected number 6, tell me what sort of items that you have been the most successful at. (baseball cards, antique post cards, sterling silver, etc.)

I have been able to raise a small amount of pocket money by collecting used books for free that were being thrown out and then selling SOME of the books to the used book store.

I needed to work on this and other small scale money making methods after being thrown out of the casino for walking the floor and looking for slot machines that people had left credits in and forgot about, and cashing them out for nominal amounts. (I rarely collected more than $2 in an afternoon or eveing.)

I am still anxiously awaiting my FIRST social security disability check, NOY due until JUNE 24.

Everybody is invited! Bring your own sauces. I have some baby back ribs cooking on the grill right now. Zorroblanco is mixing the first batch of sauce. Tell me where you are from and what ingredients you have mixed up, people! I am anxious to taste some Canadian sauces and some Finnish sauce and some more northern hot stuff!

I Can't Do This ... May 16, 2009 9:52 am
Mood: anxious, 1062 Views
...but I thought it would be cool if everybody in the blogs took close up pics and let people try to guess what the pic was. For example, one pic could look like cables or ropes and could actually be a close up of a woman's LONG from the BACK! OK. You got the idea. Now post those pics and I will try to guess what they are.

Kentucky Derby May 16, 2009 9:02 am
Mood: amused, 850 Views
You may have heard about the winner of the 2009 Kentucky Derby paying over $100. This may have been the first time in racing history where the jockey got off the horse and ran the second half of the race on foot and beat all of the horses across the finish line.
