I Get the Feeling That I am on a Sinking Ship and the Last to Jump Off Sep 3, 2008 10:02 am

How many of you are still hanging on as ff sinks below the waves? The hull has tilted up at a sharp angle now and I am one of the few who hang on as the ship begins its final rapid decline. Are you still hanging on too? Most of the crew and passengers have abandoned ship as the blogs have become frozen in time under the cold ocean waters to be preserved forever on that page: August 18!
I jumped ship long ago
I have been hanging on and check the blog page for updates
My grip has grown weaker. I will be one of the next to jump off
This ship sank long ago, We all knew it but tried to deny it
There is still time to salvage this ship if the crew do damage control
I jumped early, was rescued and am now floating on myspace

I want to begin this post here by relating a TRUE story. There was a girl who lived a sedentary lifestyle who yearned for a boyfriend that would marry her. So she devised a plan. She got herself in tip-top shape (nothing wrong with THAT- she may have added a few years to her life span). BUT then she decided that she would be MOST LIKELY to find a man in an activity that would tend to attract males: outdoor activities. Her plan WORKED. She met her future husband while persuing outdoor activities. Whitewater rafting, mountain climbing, fishing. They dated and had a wonderful time hiking and camping together. So...they married. And she settled into her sedentary routine again, watching TV as a happily married woman. Her husband became frustrated when she no longer wanted to accompany her on the activities that they used to enjoy so much together and after repeatedly begging her to accompany him, he reluctantly went back to doing them by himself and with other male friends. It was ONLY a matter of time before he would catch the eye of another athletic female. But he secretly wondered..."Am I being deceived again?" He remained faithful, but the marriage soon fell apart anyway because the two were SIMPLT not compatible. So I would like to advise BOTH males AND females: Be TRUE to yourself FIRST. Do NOT compromise your beliefs or change your hobbies, activities, or appearance in order to make yourself more attractive to the opposite sex who most likely is ALSO pretending to be someone that they are NOT in order to attract a mate. I have tried to be someone that I am not when I was a young man in order to advance in a career that was NOT for me. When I was in my 20's, I worked in an office at an engineering firm that had a STRICT dress code. All male employees were required to wear a neck tie to work every day. I resented this but I complied. So then I got this idea that I would become Mr. Yuppie to fit in more and I cut my long short. Yeah, I got a compliment from the boss: "You look distinguished as hell". But my work did NOT get compliments. Infact, it got CRITICIZED. "This looks like sh*t!" "You smoke too much". I realised that the job was NOT for me. So I decided NOT to pretend to be someone that I was NOT. I am not clean cut even if you trim my and dress me up in clean, pressed clothing and spray me down with smelly cologne. I am still unkempt on the inside and it will soon show through. So, I show my TRUE, dirty, disheveled appearance on the outside. I shall fool NO ONE! There are those who criticize me. Most people mind their own business. Then there are the FEW LONG -ed brunettes out there who respect me and the one or two who may be attracted to me. If they are, whether clean and neat, or unkempt and dirty...I hope THEY are being TRUE to themselves and NOT pretending to be someone who THEY are not.
