Amused Muse
(EMPTY SHADOW- extract)

I'm just another shadow
in a broken dream.
I flow in the darkness
and I'm never what I seem.
I cling to empty places,
turn my face from the light;
can't remember loving anything,
except the velvet night.

EMBRACING RETRIBUTION

Part of the Unfinished Chronicles

His stomach lurched. She was wearing the darkest of her heavy flowing dresses and this did not bode well for him as her attire always matched her mood.

She stood by the window, in the fading light of a scarlet tinged twilight. The fire glow of the sky reflected in her slate eyes as her pale skin burned with colours not natural to one such as her.

She did not turn her gaze in his direction as she murmured,
"You still seek solace in forgiveness."
"Yes." he whispered wearily as sadness and guilt wrapped themselves around his tormented heart.
"It shall never be yours." she told him, pausing to bring one pale hand up to touch the coldness of the window glass. He watched her caress the pane with delicate long fingers, gently tracing the reflection of her own appearance. He studied her closely, and to him, her passive face seemed almost serene as the embers of the fading sky died on her countenance. She had moulded herself to a vision of his fantasy woman, so beautifully pure, yet so cruelly deformed. A sweet dark angel of twisted fate. His fate.
"You will desire me for all eternity," she said, her eyes turning to look upon him,
"and I will break you, over and over again."

SLEEP EASY

Sleep easy, little angel,
the Sandman's touch is light.
He'll ease you into slumber
to dream away the night.
No need to fear the darkness
for tomorrow will be bright.
So sleep my little angel,
my darling little mite.

Just dream about tomorrow,
and of how sweet the day will be,
when once again you rise to shine
for all the world to see.
So cuddle down my little one,
the night will soon go by,
then hours from now,
when morning comes,
you'll light your Mother's eye.

I'll need a few generals, some foot soldiers, and someone to brew tea.

GEMINI

Your Gemini face
is a charmless veil
of wreckage.

When jolted from pose,
your scripted smile
leaves a sneer
to decline.
Faithful only to malice;
Resisting release.

ODDITIES OF AN AMUSED MUSE

The blue cat was miserable. Its eyes, which were as dark as the midnight sky, had never seen the stars.

Dear Diary,

I feel very sad for this cat. I hope it gets to see the stars one day.

ODDITIES OF AN AMUSED MUSE

Dear Diary,

I was relieved when Grandma crashed through the living room window. Even before the imploded glass had time to settle on the carpet, her skinny arms and legs had gone into action. Moments later, the two ninja assassins who had come to kill me, were dead on the floor.

I wonder who will visit tomorrow?

Eternal Dreams May 14, 2007 2:11 am

This is a collaboration poem I worked on with another lady poet. (Lavendar)

ETERNAL DREAMS

Tonight I'll light a fire
and turn the lights down low,
then I'll take my shattered dreams
and carefully let them go.

Send them soaring way up high
Past the rings of Saturn’s heart
Take a piece of moon dust love
Before my dreams depart

Then I'll stare into the fire
and let my thoughts go free.
Let them find a new horizon
above a peaceful sea.

Ocean of the bluest hue
Enchant me with your lies
Send forth a lover deep and true
Make love beneath your skies

As we float on cosmic light
Returning whence we came
Our souls entwine to join as one
Eternal bliss enflame

So wrap me in your fantasy
where new dreams will be made
and let the pieces of the old
turn to dust and fade.
