Future IRAQ: DEMOCRACY or MILITANT THEOCRACY? Jan 20, 2007 1:27 pm

FRIENDS -

We won the Iraq war, but we're losing the peace.

Iraq will never become a Democracy or Democratic Republic as long as militant Shiite cleric Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr is in power and commanding his Mahdi Army. al-Sadr with the backing of his Mahdi Army forcefully persuades people to vote the way he wants, and he now controls two thirds of the Iraqi National Assembly, exerting irresistable pressure on Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to make concessions to al-Sadr's Shiites.

al-Sadr wants to be in Iraq what Kohmeini was in Iran, and he's well on his way to getting what he wishes. He intends Iraq to be a theocracy with him as its head, much like Afghanistan under the Taliban. He expects the Prime Minister and other elected Iraqi officials to answer to him. And through the Mahdi Army he is exercising his will, intimidating the majority Shiite to vote the way he wants at the polls and in the National Assembly.

If al-Sadr is left to take over and rule Iraq, as he does Sadr City, the entire country of Iraq will become the operations headquarters and training center for all worldwide terrorist activity.

If Iraq and its citizens are to be fully liberated and totally free, al-Sadr and his Mahdi Army must go. The elimination of al-Sadr and his Mahdi Army would pave the way for a truly independent and free Iraq.

Nothing less will work. All other Iraq plans are doomed as long as al-Sadr and his Mahdi Army survive.

Forget diplomacy; al-Sadr and his Mahdi army must be eliminated. Or the USA and our allies must cut our losses, and get all of our troops and civilians out of Iraq.

As many of you know...my wife Lynda has been battling cancer for more than a year. While her most recent bone marrow tests were good, the biopsy indicates that her cancer is no longer "in complete remission." More treatment is required.

All prayers are very much appreciated.

Jesus promised His followers, "Whatsoever you shall ask of God the Father in heaven in my name, believing, you shall receive." No 'ifs," "ands" or "buts" about it. You must be a Christian in a right relationship with God, you must ask in Jesus' name, you must believe, and "you shall receive." Lynda and I are standing on that promise.

May God bless.

"LOVE" is the "GREATEST!" Jan 9, 2007 11:32 am

"1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

GOD ANSWERS PRAYER ! Dec 19, 2006 1:53 pm

My wife Lynda (who has been battling cancer for the last year) and I met with her oncologist Tuesday morning, December 19, to discuss the results of the previous week's Catscan and Petscan.

The cancerous area is still only 2 centimeters, but the Petscan showed "some uptake" or signs of activity, possibly "some recurrance" or "cells splitting (or multiplying)." Lynda's oncologist wants to check Lynda's bone marrow. Lynda is expected to have more chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant...if considered necessary after the bone marrow biopsy.

Please pray to God in Jesus Name, believing, that all cancer cells will be totally destroyed and Lynda will be completely and permanently healed.

Prayer is the key to the Kingdom of heaven. James said, "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man (woman, boy or girl) availeth much." Our righteousness is by the grace of God through the shed blood of Jesus the Christ, our Redeemer, who paid the price for our sins on Calvary's cruel cross. Jesus said to His followers, "Whatsoever you shall ask of God the Father in heaven in my name, believing, you shall receive." No ifs, ands or buts about it. Lynda and I are standing on that promise.

When I had a near fatal motorcycle accident on Airline Highway in Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans, Friday night, December 20, 1985...when I suffered a severe stroke February 3, 1997; was 3 or 4 hours late getting to the hospital; and couldn't move or speak, and wasn't expected to for a year-and-a-half to two years, if ever...and when Lynda and I were returning home from dinner in my little 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Friday night, January 21, 2001, and we were hit head-on and almost killed by a DUI truck driver who was fleeing police...that promise was kept. God answered my and our prayers then, and God will answer my and our prayers now.

We thank Him! We praise Him!! And we worship Him!!!

Lynda and I wish you and your family a very Merry CHRISTmas, and we pray you have a happy and prosperous New Year!

May God richly bless you and all of those with whom you share love, and may He always keep you safe.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! GOOD NEWS... Dec 10, 2006 8:37 am
Mood: loved, 489 Views
1 Now it happened in those days, that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled. 2 This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David; 5 to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.

6 It happened, while they were there, that the day had come that she should give birth. 7 She brought forth her firstborn son, and she wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock. 9 Behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 The angel said to them, "Don't be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. 11 For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough." 13 Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 "Glory to God in the highest, On earth peace, good will toward men."

15 It happened, when the angels went away from them into the sky, that the shepherds said one to another, "Let's go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." 16 They came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough. 17 When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child. 18 All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.

21 When eight days were fulfilled for the circumcision of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

22 When the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord 23 as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord", 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, "A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons."

25 Behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.*1 27 He came in the Spirit into the temple. When the parents brought in the child, Jesus, that they might do concerning him according to the custom of the law, 28 then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

29 "Now you are releasing your servant, Master, According to your word, in peace;

30 For my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 Which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;

32 A light for revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of your people Israel.

- Luke 2, the Holy Bible

Merry CHRISTmas!

I pray you have a very happy and prosperous New Year.

DECEMBER 7, 1941, "A DAY OF INFAMY!" Dec 8, 2006 6:10 am
Mood: contemplative, 493 Views
FRIENDS -

Sunday, December 7, 1941, was a beautiful day on our family farm in Allen Parish, Louisiana. I was 3 years old.

When we got home from church, mother went to the kitchen to cook dinner. I was outside in the front yard with my dog "Miss," walking around and listening to big old battery powered Airline console radio that sat in the corner of our
living room. I could hear it clearly through the open window. I was still wearing my little dark blue suit, tie and hat with the feather in its band.

"Miss" and I had been out there for a while when suddenly the broadcast was interrupted by an excited reporter with a news bulletin, saying, "The Japanese have just bombed Pearl Harbor!" As he continued with the details, I went running up the steps, across the front porch and through the living room, yelling, "Momma, Momma...the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor!"

As I arrived in the kitchen, mother has paused from her cooking, looked at me and very calmly said, "I know. I heard." Then she continued preparing lunch. But she looked so sad.

I went back to the living room, and kept listening to the radio for more news. I remember thinking my Dad and my Uncles were going to have to go to war, and they might die. But I was more upset, I think, that anyone had done such a
sneaky thing. I did not think very much of the Japanese that day. I had never seen one, but I didn't like them.

In the following days, we learned that more than 2,400 Americans had been killed and more that 1,000 had been injured in just a couple of hours that Sunday morning, and the attacks had only lasted a couple of hours.

I remember the men angrily talking about the Japanese and their sneak attack on a Sunday morning. And I remember the urgency by most of them to get into the fight. It seemed like almost all of the men were going to join the army.

We had thousands of acres of open range. The troops from Fort Polk and other military bases staged maneuvers on our property throughout World War II. That was really something to see for a little boy. I enjoyed watching all of the
war games with infantry, tanks and airplanes.

Some of the fighter planes flew so low that I could almost hit them, standing on top of one of our sheds and reaching up with a long cane fishing pole. I could see the faces of the pilots as they flew over, some laughing and waving their wings.

One day I decided to get closer to the action. I climbed up on top of a big pile of brush. I could see everything. Then the pile of brush suddenly came alive. The tank beneath the brush fired up its engine and statrted turning its
gun turret. I jumped off of that pile of brush and ran. I did not know that there was a tank under there. I was very lucky that I jumped in the right direction, off the back, as the treads began to move the tank forward.

I remember the seriousness in my Mother's face and the sadness in her eyes everytime we saw one of those black military sedans with the white star on its sides coming down Dorsey Road, going to tell another family about the death of
a loved one.

I remember Gen. George S. Patton's race into Berlin. I remember MacArthur's return. I remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I remember V-J Day and V-E Day. And I remember much more.

But the day that is forever burned into my memory is that "day of infamy." December 7, 1941, I will never forget.

I will never forget the supreme sacrifices of so many of the USA's men and women during those long years of World War II. And today I can only say, "Thank you! Because of you brave and patriotic Americans...the United States of America is still free. May God always bless you and your loved ones."

And life goes on.

Today some of the nicest, sweetest and most charming people I know are Japanese.

THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION Nov 20, 2006 12:36 pm

FOLKS -

My maternal relatives left London, England, in 1605, and came to America. My paternal relatives arrived in the Carolinas from the Valley of the Rhine in the early 1700s.

This is the 1676 Thanksgiving Proclamation.

"The Holy God having by a long and Continual Series of his Afflictive dispensations in and by the present Warr with the Heathen Natives of this land, written and brought to pass bitter things against his own Covenant people in this wilderness, yet so that we evidently discern that in the midst of his judgements he hath remembered mercy, having remembered his Footstool in the day of his sore displeasure against us for our sins, with many singular Intimations of his Fatherly Compassion, and regard; reserving many of our Towns from Desolation Threatened, and attempted by the Enemy, and giving us especially of late with many of our Confederates many signal Advantages against them, without such Disadvantage to ourselves as formerly we have been sensible of, if it be the Lord's mercy that we are not consumed, It certainly bespeaks our positive Thankfulness, when our Enemies are in any measure disappointed or destroyed; and fearing the Lord should take notice under so many Intimations of his returning mercy, we should be found an Insensible people, as not standing before Him with Thanksgiving, as well as lading him with our Complaints in the time of pressing Afflictions:
The Council has thought meet to appoint and set apart the 29th day of this instant June, as a day of Solemn Thanksgiving and praise to God for such his Goodness and Favour, many Particulars of which mercy might be Instanced, but we doubt not those who are sensible of God's Afflictions, have been as diligent to espy him returning to us; and that the Lord may behold us as a People offering Praise and thereby glorifying Him; the Council doth commend it to the Respective Ministers, Elders and people of this Jurisdiction; Solemnly and seriously to keep the same Beseeching that being persuaded by the mercies of God we may all, even this whole people offer up our bodies and souls as a living and acceptable Service unto God by Jesus Christ."

THE KEEPING ROOM Nov 11, 2006 11:20 am

FOLKS -

I've been asked, "What's a Keeping Room?"

Lynda & my new 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom and 3-car garage Saint Ives Home in Madison, Mississippi - USA, has a Living Room and Dining Room, of course, but our Keeping Room is our central living space.

The Keeping Room is a large combination room, composed of Kitchen (Cooktop. Microwave, two Convection Ovens, Dishwasher, Garbage Disposal, etc.) with an adjacent Breakfast Area and Living Area (Family Room) with a Fireplace. The Living Area is seperated from the Kitchen by the granite Island and four counter stools.

The Dining Room opens off the Kitchen opposite the Breakfast Area, and Lynda's Office opens across the hall from the Keeping Room opposite the Kitchen.

The Keeping Room has a Friends' Entrance from the Front Porch, and there is also a Back Screened Porch.

In early Colonial days...the houses only had one room and it was called the Keeping Room. The family did a lot of things in the Keeping Room...eating, cooking, working and sleeping. The grown-ups and the babies slept in the Keeping Room while the older children slept in the attic.

The Puritans who first came to Boston in the early 1600s thought dancing was sinful. Later...more people danced. The preferred dance of the time was the minuet. But on cold nights there was faster music in the Keeping Room. The fireplace alone cold not keep the whole room warm. So the people danced more enthusiastically, generating natural body heat.

But our Keeping Room is designed only for convenient, relaxed and comfortable family living...not for socials or dancing.

TODAY'S CHILDREN Oct 5, 2006 12:14 pm

"Children today are tyrants. They contradict their parents, gobble their food, and tyrannize their teachers."

Know who said that? Socrates.

Today's children are the future of our nation and the world. Home is the launching platform for our children's journey through life. Love them, no matter what...teach them personal discipline and the meaning of the word "no"...and educate them.

Always remember...if you can't control your children and your home, your children will not believe that you can control anyone or anything, and they will feel unloved, believing you you don't really care about them. Consequently, they can become very insecure, living in constant fear.

Teach your children personal discipline, make them behave, and let them learn that they cannot always win or have their way; they will feel very secure, safe and loved.

Rear them well. Our lives will eventually be in their hands.

May God richly bless you and your family, and may He always keep you safe.

WHY I PREFER THE COMPANY OF WOMEN Sep 1, 2006 7:17 am
592 Views
FRIENDS -

When I was a young boy, barely able to talk, I discovered that men and women were very different, and I much preferred the ladies.

I remember very well the weekend when I became aware of the differences. It was at a big get together on our farm.

Out there in the country where I was born and reared through fourth grade...people would come together for big weekend socials and quilting parties. They would bring food and drinks. My grandfather and father were very well known and respected, so our home was one of the favorite places for folks to visit.

The men who were musicians would bring their musical instruments, and sit out on the front porch, picking, singing, smoking, chewing, telling jokes and sharing stories. They talked about fishing, hunting, fighting and sex. As I listened to these "bull" sessions I realized that most of the men were greatly exaggerating and some of them were outright lying.

I was tagging along with my father and/or grandfather when I witnessed what really happend in many of their highly imaginative stories. I had been there when one of them had caught a little fish that he was suddenly claiming was huge. I had been there when another one was hunting, shooting and missing, and was now bragging about his hunting prowess. I had witnessed some of the fights, and I knew who got whipped, the guy untruthfully boasting about his great fighting ability. I thought, if they're not telling the truth about everything else, then they must be lying about their sexual exploits, too.

I decided to go inside, and see what mother and the ladies were doing.

They were all sitting around the quilting frame, sewing pieces of cloth onto a quilt and talking. They talked about everything that was happening in our area of the country. They knew who was doing what with whom and when. They talked about what cow just had a calf, what woman was running around with what man, and who was pregnant and by whom. They knew everything. They talked nicer, their voices sounded better, they looked better, and they smelled better than the men.

Since that weekend of revelation, I have always preferred the company of women to the companionship of men.

As I was growing up during those formulative years, my mother was my very best friend. She was only 17 when I was born. My 2 years younger sister was my best buddy and main playmate. And most of the children on the neighboring farms were girls.

There was only one few years older boy nearby. He showed me that crawfish were good to eat, sold my classmates and me big balloons that turned out to be his big brother's condoms, and he taught me how to fight and win everytime. That was about the extent of my relationship with him. My grandfathers, father and uncles taught me how to hunt and fish.

Hunting, fishing, and fighting is fun with men. But...for everyhing else...I very much enjoy and really prefer the company of a lovely lady...or ladies.

Woman is God's most beautiful creation. I thank God, I praise Him, and I worship Him!

God knew what He was doing, and it worked. We humans have "gone forth and populated the Earth."
