The stories and poems encased in this crystal blog are written from my own imagination and in no way are intended to be viewed as written to any specific person unless I specifically state that it is.
My heart is a book which you leaf through as simply as the pages of this blog..
Antiqued an worn The words bleed From a hidden place Deep within my chapters Where only one can see And whispering spirits tarry
Frayed are my edges Yet my gliding Remains beautiful Not a mere ornament But a testament to the tooling Which has geared my life
Sown tightly is my binding I have weathered the years I shine with wisdom an character Like no other book Yet my cover bares the marks Of ordinary use
Turn my pages lightly And you shall read My hued memories Of dreams and dreaminess Of times and timelessness Of lives and liveliness
Upon my inner pages Are scribbled Achromatic dreams My love My hopes My life
You are such a treasured book All my love, Sister of my heart (Written by a special sister of my heart...MsAlchemy2...a special gift...I wanted to share.)

Jun 6, 2007 10:17 pm 825 Views | No absolution in this dream Touch not lest you surrender to her need Fear dims the candles That you see no moment of sanctity In her bleeding heart She would devour you in her hunger Lust never sated You whisper of desire unfulfilled She stands before you Judged unfit, undeserving of surcease Her body willed By the darkness twining with her skin Tasting of her fear Red tears she would conceal Blackness of her rage in gray helplessness You long for her soul Tainted as you believe it to be Still must you own the one you see Twisted as you feed Upon the heart she never gave Stolen passions; her wishes forgotten As you wallow in her depths Mired in the quicksand of her hate Man or fate?

| Who Took My Hamsters? |
Jun 5, 2007 10:37 pm 909 Views | Well ok then. I meant to write some comments, post a poem, do some homework, write a few emails. Hmmm...guess what DIDN'T happen?
It was a great and wonderful day at work today. This monthend has gone soooooooo smoothly. We installed the second swamp cooler last night. (A swamp cooler, also known as an evaporative cooler, is a huge box with fiber pads inside each of the three sides which are not against your house. The fiber pads are saturated with water, cool air is generated by a motor and fan, and voila...you have humidified air to push through your house...large quantities of humidified air, very inexpensive to run).
Anyway, so I come home tonight and I hadn't been home half an hour when I had no electricity in a rather large section of my house...but not all of it. No tripped circuits; nothing I can find wrong. (Someone stole my hamsters and the dang wheel isn't turning.) Turns out that I have some outlets wired backwards...and a shorted outlet on the primary circuit...and who the heck knows what else. So...I had limited ability to do anything I had planned since my puter was down and I was busy loading software on the laptop.
By the way...if you are buying a new system...be cautious about getting Windows Vista. Most of my software is not compatible with it. It's making me crazy. In fact, even my printer is not yet compatible with it. I thought about kidnapping our IT guy and having him come over and fix my netword and figure out what I need for Vista to run with my software smoothly...but then, he will know how to fix it and I still won't (aside from which, he's threatened to gag me if I ask for help one more time...but that's just at work, right?)
So...here I am tonight. I have my puter on an extension cord and one of the swamp coolers is running. The other one needs to stay off until they figure out the electrical issue. I missed a phone call I was waiting for...sorry Kelly...and there you have it...one more screwed up night for the screwed up fairy...guess that's poetic justice for you.
By the way...I did WRITE my poem...but I'm not going to post it tonight...I'm too darn tired.
Night all. | |

| Why Do Men Act Like This When They Get Mad? |
Jun 4, 2007 7:31 pm 982 Views | Why is it when men get mad, they suddenly start driving extremely fast? I don't mean fast like I drive fast, I mean fast like excessive speeds in unsafe situations...like in town...speeding around corners until you want to just scream at them, cursing...sometimes yelling, generally being....excuse the word...idiots.
I hate when people act like that. First it scares the heck out of me...then when I'm good and scared, I get mad as hell...cause you just scared me.
So...why bother? Did it solve anything? Does it make you feel better? Do you think about how the person sitting beside you in the vehicle is feeling while you are yelling and cursing?
I had a friend years ago, whose boyfriend got mad at her and was speeding through a canyon. He killed the two of them when he flipped the car and a semi hit them. Really...is it worth it?

| Sometimes People IrIritate Me |
Jun 3, 2007 10:39 pm 1448 Views | You know, I've lived in this house for nearly five years. Earlier this year, I bought the house, ending my lease on it. When I moved in, in 2002, I paid a security deposit on it. Shortly after closing on the sale, I realized that the previous owner still owed me my deposit. Of course, I can't get her to return a call or respond to email. I finally reached her today.
"What can I do for you, Ari?"
"You know, I was just filing away some old paperwork and realized that you had never refunded my deposit."
"Oh Ari, that's long done."
"Ummmm, no...I don't think so, Yvonne. I paid x amount of dollars and I'd like to have it refunded."
"You should have asked for it in the closing fees."
"No, I really shouldn't have. The lease and the purchase are entirely separate legal agreements. One does not absorb the other."
"Ari, the money is gone in the closing. I'm not sending it to you."
"Yvonne, the money is not part of the closing. I agreed to buy the house for a specific price, not the price plus my damage deposit."
"I'm not paying it."
"Then I'll have to file it in court."
"You would take me to court for this amount of money? I sold you the house at a good price. It's all you're getting."
"Well, I'm guessing a judge will see it differently. I have a contract that clearly states the deposit will be refunded within 30 days of the lease ending unless you have to make repairs. Since I bought the house as is...you had no repairs to make and the money is due to be refunded to me."
"Just write it off, Ari. I'm not sending you the money."
"That's fine. I'd like to remind you that the law states that if I file it in court...and win...I will be entitled to all costs, three times the original amount of the deposit, and interest."
"And if you lose, you will pay my costs."
"Well Yvonne, I'm betting I won't lose because they are separate agreements. Had you wanted the deposit included in the sale, you should have documented it in the sale docs. And I would have refused it. Since you didn't, you continue to owe me the money."
"Fine, I'll send it to you $50 at a time. I simply don't have the money."
"Since the contract states it will be repaid within 30 days, I will not accept $50 payments. You will pay it in one payment within 30 days...or I will see you in court."
"I have nothing further to say."
Now...this lady is a fine, upstanding member of her ward (church). She is not poor and never has been...and makes substantially more money than I do. She just sold me her house and made a fair bit of money on the sale...yet she wants to cheat me out of my damage deposit.
It shouldn't surprise me. In the five years I've been here her son has continued to register his vehicles locally so that he could avoid paying his own state taxes on them. He has also continued to obtain hunting and fishing licenses on my address so that he could continue to hunt and fish in Idaho without paying non-resident fees. She demanded I use a specific title company in the closing, because the company I wanted had once "cheated her out of several hundred dollars". Of course, she didn't disclose that her neice would be preparing the closing documents until the day before the sale.
And she thinks I'm a bad person for asking for the money she owes me back?

| The Cool Kids |
Jun 3, 2007 12:50 am 1039 Views | Well, here I am at last....and guess what? I have a swamp cooler running in my house!!!! Wooohoooo. We've been installing the silly thing since about 11 this morning...and only finished about 45 minutes ago...but it works, it blows wonderfully cool air...and lots of it, it's about 40% less expensive to run than air conditioning and about 40% more effective...and I am in hottie heaven...lol...
So...I'm whipped...not butt-whipped...I don't think...but whipped and ready for bed...and deliriously happy. In a few days I'll have a second swamp cooler running in the back of the house and my bedroom will be delightfully...well, I would say frigid, but that would be a lie...so...hmmm...chilled...like fine wine, right?
Hope everyone else is staying perfectly cool...and if not...what the heck y'all doing in the heat? Come to Idaho and get cool....hang out with the cool kids...lol.....

| More About Words |
Jun 2, 2007 7:43 pm 936 Views | I was talking to my daughter, who can speak in a manner which displays her exceptional vocabulary...but often chooses to speak as if she were from some inner city somewhere in America. Her favorite expression of the year is "butt-whipped".
Excuse me...what exactly does that mean? Did someone whip your butt really hard? Did you use your butt to whip your potatoes? What exactly is butt-whipped?
We all use a few of those common expressions that really have next to no meaning...except the meaning we choose them to have. What does "to hell and back" mean? I once had an engineer ask me to quantify that expression. How the heck would I know? It's three miles straight down until you see the man in the red suit...and he's not Santa Claus.
So...share some of your unusual expressions...and what they mean. I'm curious to know how those expressions vary around the world.

| Definition or Intent...which matters more? |
Jun 2, 2007 3:00 pm 1120 Views | Is it the word that's more offensive...or the intent behind it?
I had a blog in mind today...about double standards and the power of words and intent...when I read a post which used a word I find personally offensive. I don't believe in bigotry or prejudice of any kind. I believe all people are created equal; what they become is of their own making, not due to color, race, sex, creed or any other milestone which they cannot truly impact. I judge people based on the kind of person they are.
This post exemplifies exactly what I had in mind to blog about; words. I've said before that the majority of people here are Mormons. Mormons have very definite standards as regards the use of curse words. They don't allow them to come out of their mouths; they are terribly offended if they come out of yours. The other day I was reprimanded by a co-worker for using the word "Shit" when a door was closed on my hand. It wasn't intentional usage...it was the sudden impact of the door that literally forced the word out of my mouth. Anyway, my co-worker was offended and made it an issue that I had dared to use the word in his presence (even though I didn't know he had entered the room).
Ok. I understand having standards. I also understand that some words are offensive. Some are offensive to most people; some to just a few. I'm not sure how much difference it makes how many people the word offends...but if we have to worry about each and every word we ever use...when do we dare speak? The words which offend the majority of people...well...they probably shouldn't be used in a public place.
But, it also made me take a look at what IS acceptable to the Mormon contingent. They do not swear, but if you have offended them, they will call you a "potlicker". Now...I had never heard this word until I moved to Idaho. But, it is used interchangeably in sentences where others might say "bit*ch" or a similar word. So...my question is this....does it make any difference if you are using a milder word when the intent is the same thing?
For example, some people use the "F" word exhaustively. I prefer to use the words "flip" or "frick". Does it change anything that I don't use the "f" word? I submit that it does not if the intent behind the word is the same. By the same token, I submit that calling someone a potlicker in the same tone you would have called them a bit*ch...leaves the meaning the same.
Of course, the Mormon people I know totally disagree with me. They say the fault is in the actual word, not in the usage or the intent.
So, taking this entire discussion a step further; how do we know intent in this place? I can usually guage intent from the phrasing of the sentence and the tone of voice, facial expressions, gestures. The only thing we have to guage from here is the sentence structure. Too often, intent cannot be accurately judged by simple sentence structure.
It's just my opinion...but it seems to me that we have to consider what our words mean to others...in usage...and intent. And as far as I can see...intent is much more meaningful than usage.
So...where do you fall out on this? Which is more important? And what words do you use to replace a word someone may find offensive? And does the intent alter the meaning of the word..so that a non-cursing word...can become just as hurtful as a curse word?
