You must keep
this grief
by your side,
keep it
hidden
like a clinging hand
desperate
to unfold.

It will wander
in its solitary skin,
drawn back
only by deprivation,
a matter timed
by the number
of your tears.

You must not let
this grief see me.
Keep it solidly away
tucked within your pores
and
your mountains
of yesterday.

It will stand
and lean against your
heart,
seeking caverns
with chambered eyes
keen
to light
the way back.

Yep, all is well - a bit achy
around the edges, but that's normal.
