If my enemy's enemy is my friend, but then he attacks me too,
that must mean that both my enemies are now my friends.

And with friends like that, who needs enemies?

Or something.

I could say something glib about how you can't really trust either, or I could go in the opposite direction and say, an enemy is someone you just haven't tried to make your friend yet...

I think the idea is to make your enemy's enemy into a friend before that entity attacks you.

But if they both attack you, you gain the advantage — because they could never present a united front against you.

I was speaking from experience. It doesn't take a book to learn this.

The adage, "Your enemy's enemy is your friend," is a suggestion that you befriend that entity, so that YOU have the two-against-one advantage. At least that's how I read it.

But if you lose the initiative, you still can take advantage of the fact that both attackers hate each other. It's like 'divide and conquer,' except the dividing has already been done for you.

Is it Sun-Tzu? Machiavelli? Robert Greene? Or common sense?

If this is the only thing that can kick start a conversation for them, then we're dealing with some very seriously socially challenged people.

Then aren't we doing them a favor?
Giving them something to talk about?...

I didn't say it was something exciting.
Not saying you're not exciting...
you're extremely exciting.
I just mean...

uhm.
Look! Behind you! Harry Potter!
*runs (gracefully) away*

you're welcome.
someone had to end the awkwardness that is this comment.

I know!
I named the elephant 'Love'...

If his name was Charlie, I would have said, "Charlie hurts"

keep up dear boy

Love the elephant?

Sounds like incitement to bestiality.

I freed love.
Love is no longer with me...

it's pretty quiet and lonely with no love.

(we're still discussing the elephant, of course...)

Forget the elephants, watch out for the coyotes!

Poor woman. (I just read the Taylor Mitchell story).

that is sad
I was watching that on the news last night,
we have coyotes always running around, the woods are right behind my house
and I always get calls from clients letting me know that their pet is no longer with them because of coyotes...
but that's how it's always been so
...
I could try TNT...
I need a roadrunner too
