You wouldn't believe it. But someone had just copied en toto my previous post I Look Forward To Tomorrow. The guy omitted the first two words of the title and made it like it was entirely his own.
He even commented on my post. As a gracious host, i visited his blog and imagine my surprise when his real first blog was MY POST! He posted it April 11, 2008 at 3:11pm and i posted mine at 10:44 am.
This couldn't be real, i told myself. I went to the main blog and there in the recently posted blogs, I saw his entry. I clicked it and WHAM! The screen told me, the member has deleted the post. Apparently, this guy was still online and maybe he realized he has gone too far with my post and deleted his entry which he COPIED from me.
However, i felt violated. So i sent him an email and advised him to never again copy someone's blog. Should he need to, at least he should have the decency to give credit to the author and not pass it as his own. Besides, the particular post i was referring to was too personal that it is awkward for him to copy it.
So anyway, he has a new entry now which i'm not sure if it's his original work. The one he copied from me has been deleted, or was it just hidden?

OMG, si Cherie Gil is in your blog!!!!
And Gabby Concepcion is back!
Seriously, this is irritating. But part of me thinks, how much of what we wrote here is really protected? For all we know what we've written on this site has already been lifted and pasted elsewhere on the net. We can easily see if someone is stupid enough to copy something from here and actually publish it here. But what about elsewhere?
How much of us is out there without us knowing it?

I'm here wondering about the way the time is stamped in FF. Yes, because there is the time shift, right? I see my posts with my local time stamp (e.g. the last comment I've made here is marked as 9:34pm). I see no post of yours on April 9th at 10:44am, but one at 5:16am and other at 6:13am. Today April 11th you post at 5:44am and 11:09am. Interesting

This has happened before...someone copied my post about Remembrance Day... the only way to deal with this is to create one holy mother of a stink....let people who know who copied your post... tell FF...phone them... etc...
I'm wondering who did this to you. There is a person on this site who routinely copies and pastes other people's poetry. It's theft. I'm wondering if it's the same person?
Wishing you happiness

Off to the bloggy dungeon they must go! There are those around here who just can't think for themselves or just don't care. Very rude for this person to copy your personal post and make it theirs. We should put these people on a list of some kind, unless the post has been given permission by another blogger to use.
If you can't convince them, confuse them!

So i guess, this is the resonance of my earlier post, Beware: Blogging.... Not that my post which have been copied is a timebomb which can break my career, but i never thought a would-be very personal experience (because i was still planning at the time, right?) would invite that blogger to copy it and post it in his blog. What did enter his mind when he did that?

Sometimes, multiple bloggers may write on the same subject and i think it's alright as long as the writer expresses his own take on the subject and not copy another blogger's work word for word. If it's the latter, then, yes, it's spooky.

I don't know beta. I can't speak for the others. But as for me, I wouldn't want to put the person in deep sh*t like he already is. I mean, i still care. However, i have dealt with his behavior already by sending him an email, warning him and giving him an advice. This post was just to add teeth to my warning and so that other bloggers may not repeat the deed.

Thank you for pointing this out. I understand there is a time shift but i didn't realize that FF would stamp the blog differently depending on what time zone the member is at the moment.
However, there was really an error. In my haste, i have typed April 9, 2008 when it should have been April 11, 2008. But i have immediately edited the post and changed it appropriately (to April 11, 2008, 10:44am, my time, as appearing on my screen). I don't know where the glitch came from.

I have, upon occasion, wanted to repost what some one else had written into my Weblogs. First I asked permission from the Author and then secondly, I gave accreditation to the author upon it's posting. I once put one of Ari's poems in my blog and then explained what thought process it had provoked in me. I think that is the only way to repost someone else's work. This does happen on the web. That is the risk you take putting things online, unless you have sent them off for copyrights first. You can send them to Library of Congress if you are American. I don't know wha tthe rest of the world does.
I had this happen to me too. Wrote a story completely original and less than 40 minutes after I did, they copied & pasted it and gave me no credit either!
I told them also not to do it. It makes feel violated though, doesn't it RoyalPurple?

If you've read my post I Look Forward To Tomorrow you will see that it's not some copy material for a sane individual to copy, in the sense that i was just gushing about my lunch cookout for our relatives the next day. That's why when this person copied the whole thing and made it his FIRST ENTRY in his blog, i was really stunned!
We all don't like thieves. It's a good thing he deleted his entry which he copied from me. Maybe because he have read my email and this post.

When we write something online, we know the risks of many people viewing it. In fact, it's not a totally bad risk for someone to view your writings because sure, we wanted traffic in our site. But copying something from you and without giving you credit for that is a no-no, isn't it?
