I feel like the toothbrush all the time. You writing this reminds me also that there are others who have more the right to complain than I do.
My job is definitely not glamorous but someone's got to do it. And at the end of the day, I'm happy and I love the people I work with.
That's enough for now.
take care xoxo

Dearest Danielle (i hope i can call you that),
Someone has got to do our jobs, and that's whats making us special. If all people become Executives, who will do the dirtwork? lol

Wise words.
85% of people living in the developed world live only for consumerist excess. I've been there.
These days I seek internal happiness. And money can't buy that.

I saw a picture in the paper yesterday about a mother and her children striving to keep their heads above water living under a bridge in Manila, braving the danger and enduring the squalid condition.
That is not a pretty sight, ST. I discovered i don't have the right to complain given the situation of more than half the population in my country who fare worst than me.
hey, thanx for visiting.

The more I get involved with my resurgent (read--paid, in contrast with my volunteer work) career in law the more I'm beginning to withdraw from it, so much so that at this point I just look for clients and let my law partners deal with their needs as well as get the lion's share of the legal fees. I've realized I'm really happier being a stay-at-home mom and being there for my boys, which is what hubby prefers too. Of course, if I went full-blast with my legal practice I'd be earning six figures a month, but you know, I don't regret not having that extra income.
I'm just lucky Paul's paycheck is sufficient for all of our needs (not wants!) without me needing to join the rat race. Something truly to be thankful for.
I'm dyslexic. I scream Ho Dog instead of Oh God in the throes of passion.

I wouldn't be so hard on yourself about feeling discontent. Allow yourself to feel it. Stop placing guilt on yourself for your feelings.
I've often said you should not look at other people and compaire yourself to them, to make yourself feel better, or worse.
Your feeling this way is a sign that it is time to make some changes.

If all thought this way, and counted blessings instead of cash, the world would perhaps be a much nicer place.

John would have wanted me to be a stay-at-home mom and wife, too. I love the idea, and although his paycheck is enough for our little family's needs, i took it upon myself to help him economically since we're still a starting family.
so anyway, i appreciate his desire in providing us a better future even to the extent of working far from me and his son. Isn't that something to be thankful for? i really think he's the best.

You know, you may have a point there. But, i think it wouldn't be so harmful if i realized that i have treasures in my possession by looking at those whose plights are inferior to mine.

Many think that my job is glamourus, if only they knew how many hours I put in every day. Sometimes work till 2-3am in the morning and still have to look presentable the next day. But the good part of it is, I really love my job as it is Not work but pleasure helping others to be better
It's nice to be insane when No one is looking

You still can chase your dream job while working on this one. There's nothing wrong earning better income for family while enjoying what you do.

I really understand how you feel on this one. I like being a caregiver for the developmentally disabled. But sometimes I feel unchallenged and a little bored with my work.
But the sort of "dream jobs" we think about are not always that glamorous in reality. For instance, many people dream of becoming a lawyer. But Ana's been there, done that and now prefers to be a stay at home mom. I'm sure she is not alone in this. As for becoming a flight attendant, I seriously doubt you would find this job to be a glamorous one. Sure you get to travel and wear a uniform. But the actual job description entails serving food and drinks, retrieving pillows, etc for a bunch of passengers, many of whom are cranky, irritable and inclined to take their frustrations out on the flight attendants. Not a job I would want to have.
But you are right on to appreciate what you have, a job in air conditioned comfort making a better salary than the outdoor laborers. I think we should all have a greater respect for the septic workers and ditch diggers of the world, not to mention increasing the pay they receive for all their hard work.

Yes, that is a tough job for someone who cannot put long hours into their job. But when you enjoy what you do, like you are now, the work doesn't become a work at all but leisure.

Very wise words, Flib. And an inspiring one. I take it this is what you do. It would be so great to earn other income for the family and enjoying what you do not to mention that you also help others in the process.

ha ha ha! You've just made a glamorous job unglamorous, Chris. But seriously, you're right of course on that one. FAs have perks and all but they also have the drawbacks just like any other jobs. I think the secret there is doing what you enjoy to do so it will not become a work at all. For the septic workers and other "dirt jobs", i really can't say they enjoy what they're doing but who knows? And don't we owe them a lot? They should receive a larger wage than what they're already getting.
