Life, I decided, is a gift. I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver. As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I sometimes despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken back by that old person that lives in my mirror but I don't agonize over those things for long. I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my beautiful loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed. (i make my bed) I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant. I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging. Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? (i`m guilty!) I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50's, 60's & 70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love. I will! I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old. I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.. (this is a key one to remember) Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong. So, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day. ~UNKNOWN~ MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART! MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND EVER! here`s another one that spoke to me. YIKES! some of theses,.. i think their watching me |

I love my type of life no matter what comes my way. I know I'll learn and grow from each step, happy or painful. And how I grow from those moments is totaly up to me. I have little time for self pity. Self pity gets you two things; more self pity and a six months supply of little blue pills. Have a Lovely safe 4th, Dan. Love & Hugs I don't play it safe. If I wanted to stay safe.. I would have stayed in my mother's womb.

I've started, during bedtime prayers, to have my boys recite at least 3 things they're thankful for that day. Three blessings to remind them that they have much to be grateful for, to instill in them the notion that life can be wonderful if you take time to focus on the good. Hugs to you, Pilgrim Dan. I'm dyslexic. I scream Ho Dog instead of Oh God in the throes of passion.

Life is too precious and too short to feel sorry for ones life and the way it is turning out. Each of us has the ability and power to change which road we travel. True some of us have not had the chance to live to a ripe old age. But I find comfort in knowing they had done their mission here and were sent home to their Maker. Each of us has a mission here on Earth, we may not know what it is but when our time is up, its up. I personally will feel no regret for I try to live life to its fullest each day. Some days are more successful than others but each morning I am grateful that I awake because I know I am still here to do God's work. Our time here is not guaranteed so we must make the most of it. May you and yours have a wonderful holiday

This one reminds me of something George Carlin would have written. I found the real purpose of my life when my child was born as you know dan. It all comes together bit by bit and you can either run for the hills or embrace the challenges given to you. I am glad i embraced the challenge given to me and for sure i have seen a hard road in this dance i call my life but i am also blessed with this as well. It just made me a more dynamic woman and stronger mother in many ways. Helping lil britches overcome the autism and his multiple disabilities has been nothing less than a miracle in the making and i remind him to NEVER forget that he can do anything he wants to in LIFE as long as he puts his mind to it. Watching and enjoying every day with my son seeing him become a little person with good morals, values, and really caring for other people just makes my heart sing thinking WHOA! i really LIKE the son and young MAN he is becoming! for this i am truly blessed! Waving to you dear friend and i took some time going back thru your blog this morning. I do hope your leg is healing. Cellulitis is horrible. Have you tried the hyperbaric oxygen chamber for this? they say it works and i have seen many people in tremendous pain with that. had knee surgery and it did not go well. BIG SIGH! I am doing the PT on my own now. Primadonna surgeons! gotta love em!!! Life is short....play HARD!!!

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I have learned to use the best, fluffy guest towels for myself, and don't feel guilty about it. I've learned that the christal glasses need to be washed anyway, if I use them or not. So I might as well use them, even tho it's only for water. I have learned that I can have a fun day by the beach, even tho the dishes are unwashed in the kitchen sink. I have learned that if I don't make my bed, I don't feel guilty. In fact, it's so much easier to have an afternoon nap Thank you my friend for reminding me that I should not feel guilty for not doing the things I should be doing Wishing you lots of love, peace and happiness Have a great weekend dear ... like your new colour scheme ![]() It's nice to be insane when No one is looking
