The Trouble with Arabs

I have spent the last 4 hours taking care of 1400 lb colicky animal.

You can't rock them, you can't sing them a lullaby, and driving around in their trailer doesn't seem to help...either..

I had to contact 3 Vets, before I got anyone who could help me. (You have to walk the until they quit trying to lie down and roll. They can't twist their intestines, and then its too late.) I needed to give the a shot of Banamine, it helps to relax the spasming intestines. The one doc said to give her mineral oil ...and lots of it. She just turned her nose away..I have had this happen before, and I knew a shot of Banamine would do the trick...but getting them to come out, or just giving me the shot..was like pulling teeth.

Finally, I got one to just give me the shot. After I gave it to her, she was better in about 45 minutes. Just have to keep an eye on her. Let me tell you, its no fun giving a hypo to , who doesn't want it...

Here is a pic of a bay colored Arab, she looks similar, but this is not of her.

It has been a great last few days...when it rains..it freaking pours...

Yikes---wouldn't want to go near a colicky horse, much less try to give one a shot.

Brave, brave woman you are.

I'm dyslexic. I scream Ho Dog instead of Oh God in the throes of passion.

gad.... kind of like trying to give a cat pill I suspect...but the difference is you could be trampled--I'd only get scratched to death...

know the rainy bits....fall storms have moved in already..
Misty...I am more afraid of cats scratching me then a horse stepping on me. Funny huh? Its just that cats can be so vindictive..and horses...they just don't hold grudges...

They're difficult to burp, too.
You need big shoulders.

(cheeky title, btw)
