It used to be that anything could happen, now I have decided that nothing is ever going to happen!

I am not sure how long I am going to stay pissed off. That is what I am undecided about. Why am I pissed off? Oh a whole barrage of things, but I will say one thing for certain, if you give people an inch....they take much more than the inch you offer and then criticize the heart right out of you!

I know why people become hermits!

His hands trembled with uncertainty as he took the ‘nude’ stockings from her dresser drawer. Even that the decision was left to him was unnerving if not overwhelming.

“Really, what did he know about ladies stockings?” The question came into his head and left just as quickly, while he allowed the charm of the room to soothe him. It really was a peaceful sanctuary; there was no wonder to the fact that five beautiful children had been conceived there. The wall paper flowers held secrets of the most private detail. Sweet whisperings of love held between two people; love made between the soft cotton sheets. His hand stroked the feather down duvet. There was so much love; so much so that the room had a life of its own.

He was brought back to the here and now by the ticking of the clock which sat on the night table on his side of the bed. It reminded him that he needed to get her clothes to her; the nude stockings were the color she preferred. She liked that the shade made her look natural. He smiled to himself as he recalled the first time he stole a glance of her bare legs. The tenth grade girls were just leaving the gymnasium as the twelfth grade boys were just heading in. The yearning it provoked began in his chest and radiated out from there.

“Oh how she filled him with want and without even trying!” She was his high school sweetheart, the only woman he had ever kissed; the only woman he ever wanted to kiss. Yes she could stop his breath with her smile. Oh so many smiles, he chuckled at the thought of drowning in her love.

The ticking of the clock moved him towards the closet. Her lavender dress hung on the organized side of the closet; her side of the closet. He took the dress from the hanger and pulled it to his face, drawing in a deep breath as he did; she had perfumed the satchel draped over the hanger with sandalwood. The woody scent was so familiar; it would linger on her skin long after her clothes lay on the floor beside the bed. The warmth of her skin would fill the room with bottom notes of harmony that he wanted to play over and over in his mind.

He looked at the ticking clock, as it once again reminded him of the task he had to finish. While he breathed a deep sigh, he went to her jewelry box and picked up the long string of pearls he had gifted her twice; the first on their wedding day, and the second on their 25th wedding anniversary. He could still taste the tears as she kissed him deeply after opening the familiar long jewelry box. It was not that the gift was expensive it was that he had secretly had the necklace fixed after she had accidentally broke the string a few years before. She had meant to have it repaired, but it kept slipping her mind. He fought back the tears now. Many things began slipping her mind. Hindsight would tell the tale of what was really occurring, and the lingering ache to bring back a happier time would have to be endured.

As he gathered all that he had collected he looked out the bedroom window and wondered at the irony of the flowers flourishing in the beds….his wife’s favorites, forget-me-nots.

My life could be considerd boring..... Jul 26, 2008 10:00 am

Okay dear readers, my life could be considered boring to those who live in exotic locations, and have amazing occupations that allow them to travel, or occupations that change the world. Well my life is nothing like that.

A very interesting day would consist of making a new recipe. Not even making up the recipe, just copying it from an internet site that has great dishes posted. Or some crisis may come up with a friend or my children, maybe even my mother. She may be angry that I have not been in touch for a while, and I need a good dressing down. Trust me a get a few of those phone calls. No my life is not what you would call worldly at all.

I live on a pleasant farm 30 miles/50 kms., from any significantly populated town. It is quiet, peaceful even, and the worst that could happen would be a low flying crop sprayer might catch you sunbathing nekkid or in a horribly fitted two piece suit. In the suit would be the worst of the two scenarios...*shudders at the thought*

When I go for a walk I run the risk of being accosted by a bull moose, or even a badger. However those things rarely happen where I come from. So rare in fact that I do not think twice about going for a three mile walk at dusk. It is not a worry I have. So on the adventure scale, my exercise habits do not even rate really high.

Where life gets a little more interesting, but not life shattering, is in the raising of my three teenagers. Number one, called that only because of his birth order, he is 19 years old. If you could hand pick a kid he is the type of personality that is very easy to get along with, until he is bored. He has been bored a great deal lately! Which drives me nuts. Number two, called that only because he can be a little sh!t, no, not really; he is 17 nearly 18, going on 13. He is the one reason I believe that our mothers curses are real, and should be taken serious, "I hope you have kids just like YOU!" My second born is an amazing young man, with talent oozing out of his pores and an serious case of attitude acne. He blocks up the pores with all kinds of junk and doesn't let his abilities flow. *Guess who gets to be the bad guy?* Number three, a name I never call her by the way, is my 16 year old baby. She is my polar opposite, so we get along very well. Though I embarrass her with comments I make in public that would not be noticed by anyone if it were not for the dramatic eyeball roll she gives me, she is very much a delight to spend time with. Yet I know that I wear on her and she on me if we are not honest with each other.

I am going to be taking off on that 30 mile trek in about three minutes to get supplies. Supplies for what you might wonder?! Well I am preparing to make homemade raspberry jam. Again, could be considered boring, but I wish I could invite you into the goings on that occurs leading up to spreading the jam on the toast. I can tell you number one will be even more bored, number two will wish he was using his 'real abilities' somewhere else, and number three,(who I never call that) will be wishing she was completely honest with me about picking the berries!

I really wanted to let you all know that I am doing well, and I had a few moments to post a little something. I won't be caught in that nasty two piece, but you never know I could spray myself in mossie repellent and go to my berry patch au natural. We will see what my boring little life brings me!

Crash Test Dummies Jul 8, 2008 9:57 pm

I have always been interested in how bands decided on the names that would escort them to the famous platforms where they would accept their numerous awards and accolades.

The Crash Test Dummies is just one of those bands. I have more than enjoyed this band over the years. Brad Roberts deep resonating voice still takes me to places that I like spending time in. If I could bottle the sex appeal of his growl and that long hair that he sported in the early years....well....I would be a very wealthy woman.

So right now I am listening to the Greatest Hits cd/album.....Superman Song and Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm being the two songs that shot this Canadian alternative band into international stardom, are the first on the cd.....it makes me smile as the cd is my son's. He loves this stuff too....he grew up listening to it and I think with not a little bit of pride that I am so glad that I subjected my kids to every kind of music that I could. But they seem to come back to the tunes that rock my stereo.....do you think it is genetic?

What are some of your favorite bands/types of music/singer songwriters?

Unrequited

The razor effect of your gaze causes me to fall to pieces.
The wind scatters my soul with a vengeance.
And you do not see, you do not know, how it is I feel.
I feel!
I feel everything!
I feel your breath, your heartbeat, your thoughts.
And with my eyes closed, now I see
clearly into what is never going to be.
I plead to the wind to bring back my soul.
Sew my psyche together with threads of the truth.
Truth that you; like wine poisoned by a cynic’s heart,
have made me drunk with your empty words.
I open my eyes and am blind by what I feel.
Emotions flicker like flashes of lightening,
hot, intense, violently punctuated by noise.
The thundering of my cry
Guttural sobs that signify,
that you have meant something to me.
What? I can not remember…..
As I take the seeds of what I hoped for,
and bury them in the garden of my heart.
I will wait for the rains, the warmth of the sun
the gardener to come
to tend to
my love.

She Lay On Display

Robed only with a vacant smile
She lay
Inclined,
Inclined to escape
Nestled on a Willow settee,
She lay.

Her thoughts subdued for only the art.
On display
Inclined,
Inclined to escape
Over a bridge, between yore and
today.

Mbembe and the Elephant Jun 1, 2008 9:12 pm

This is quite a touching story. Thought I'd share it.

In 1986, Mkele Mbembe was on holiday in Kenya after
graduating from Northwestern University.
On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull
elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Mbembe approached it very carefully.
He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and
found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it.

As carefully and as gently as he could, Mbembe worked the
wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather
curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments.
Mbembe stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled.
Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away.
Mbembe never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.
Twenty years later, Mbembe was walking through the Chicago
Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the
creatures turned and walked over to near where Mbembe and his son Tapu were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Mbembe, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Mbembe couldn't help
wondering if this was the same elephant. Mbembe summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Mbembe' s legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.
Probably wasn't the same elephant
