Been rainin' all week up in these parts. HEAVY, soaking rain with high winds yesterday afternoon and all night. Rainin' again today. Temp only in the 40's! VERY uncharacteristic for May! I was on my way home about 1AM this morning but the road goin' up the mountain was sealed off by a very large fallen tree. So I turned around and as I drove back down the mountain in the pourin rain and howlin' icy wind, a brown river of water had burst forth from above and covered the road with mud and rocks, but I made it down OK. I took a detour around the other side of the mountain and made it home safely but the rivers of water had even carved gulleys in MY driveway 1,300 feet UP from creeks where there used to be NONE running through my steep back yard. The Shenendoah River has become brown and turbulent and the trees along its banks are becoming submerged at the base of their trunks.

wow, sounds like you were lucky to get home alive. We had friends near the shenendoah valley and the rivers there were like... only inches deep one day and then a menancing monster of water the next day! Some days they'd come home and the river near them was like a flipping ocean!

Scary stuff. I never want to live near a river. You never know when they are going to flood out.

Yeah, we had to turn on the heat here too last nite. Strange.

Wow.. we got the strong winds too.. don't get blown away db.

OK. You got back at me for the "kneaded" debacle! NOW we're EVEN! (It WOULD have been a romantic adventure if I had had a LONG -ed woman...or at LEAST a fuzzy kitten...to share it with and to dry my self off with!)

You know, mate...if I had had a few pounds it would have been a perfect excuse to pop into a pub and have a pint or two to dry my out and see if there were any wet birds about who could use a tongue to LICK the excess water off them. And maybe to end the adventure with a SHAG!

Have you tried my "Filapina Tea"? It requires a woman's LONG to be woven into a tea bag while still attached to her, and then filled with tea leaves and brewed in hot water. Then abundant sugar is added after the is removed, and a gentleman has the pleasure of sucking the tea flavour from the woman's after the tea bag is unravelled and the tea leaves are combed out!

I wish that you could send the rain down this way. We really do need it. The drought index here is over 500. That means the top 5 inches of top soil are completely dry.
