What I Learned.....

Today was not my day. Tomorrow is not looking any better. We'll just take it each minute at a time and hope I survive it.

I worked really hard today. I tore my front bathroom apart and cleaned it thoroughly; hung new curtains, threw away boat loads of garbage. That's where the fun came in. Let me tell you what I learned today.

I learned that when you put a hot cup of coffee in the microwave and heat it up....it bubbles over....all over the microwave. I learned that when you do it twice in one day....it makes you a retard. I learned that a glass of ice water spilled on a wood table is a bad thing...but a glass of ice water spilled on a table cloth on a wood table....is a worse thing....especially if you can't get the table cloth off in a hurry (the table survived).

I learned that I CAN climb a stepstool to climb into my dining room window....and the stepstool DOES get me high enough to get in the window...but when you have stuff in front of the window....it makes it hard to get in...and comedic for those watching. I learned that some curtains shrink in the dryer....and then they don't fit the window they were intended for.

I learned that tool boxes do not belong in front of the dishwasher....and if they are in front of the dishwasher...you need to watch out for them. I also learned that knees and tool boxes do not make a great combination....and the pain that runs down into your ankle...along with the blood....is not pleasant.

I learned that you have to hit a nail hard to drive it into wood trim...and hope it's in far enough that it doesn't bounce back out of the hole and smack you in the cheek. I also learned that when you hit that nail hard, you have to ensure that your thumb nail is not in the way. Again...when you repeat the mistake twice in one day....you are a retard. I learned that hammers CAN bounce back from hitting a nail and take your chin out...hence...remove your chin from the vicinity of the hammer.

I learned how to unplug a toilet....and that the underside of the toilet lid is disgusting when the toilet is 20+ years old...but soft scrub with bleach does an amazing job of cleaning it.

I learned that no matter how much you batter yourself trying to do things....or how stupid you feel when you screw up.....the satisfaction you feel when you are done...makes everything worthwhile. And now....I think I'm going to learn about sleep.

Have a lovely night.

Sorry, I can't help laughing at your minor misfortunes, some jobs really are Men's jobs.

At least you accomplished everything necessary to make your house even more your home.

Have a good week ahead.

Happy Mother's Day Arreana!
I see that you are still trying and succeeding! God Bless You!
Remember some things--- DO NOT Put the cat or dog in the microwave to dry it off! It shouldn't take any longer than 1 minute to heat a cup of coffee/tea/water in the microwave. Never heat up anything in plastic in the microwave(could cause cancer), unless the plastic container was made to be used in the microwave. Never freeze water in plastic trays in the freezer(could cause cancer). Remember to ALWAYS wear safety goggles. Wear knee pads. If you are going to install recessed lighting on the outside of your house, make sure that the lights were designed for exterior use, and make sure they are covered with a flat glass cover, (not plastic cover.) If you are going to use caulking to seal anything outside of the house, or anywhere inside where water may come in contact with it, use Silicone-Based Caulking, (latex/water-based caulking is for interior only and not around food, and water areas.) Fingernail polish remover(acetone) works great for removing paint and silicone from your skin(just wash off the acetone afterwards.) Do not use gasoline to wash your hands, or to kill unwanted plants in the cracks around the house/outside(too expensive anymore.) Regular 409 works great on bees/wasps/hornets/yellow jackets nests, and makes it easy to clean up days later when the critters leave. Use a combination of 1/2 bleach, 1/2 water in a spray bottle and spray your gutters/around the edge of the roof, once a year in the springtime/summertime and do not rinse off, do not wipe off, let it dry. It keeps the mold off. Have fun!

I'm beginning to think that safe...and me....is an oxymoron of sorts. There is nothing more fascinating to me than to learn something new.

We were climbing in the window because we locked our moronic self out of the house...and the spare key...was in my purse...in the house. I didn't say I was a rocket scientist....

I think I maybe slept two hours last night...so...it's about time to head to bed...and get some sleep before work tomorrow.

How are you doing, Bill?

I just don't buy that, Uni. I can do these jobs. I might not be able to do everything alone...but I can learn how to survive my own efforts....I think...lol....

It's one step at a time....and it's actually lots of fun...but I've been using some creative french the last few days. Some moments are so.....painful...lol....

Thanks, Uni.

Slowly, slowly...one step at a time. I think that frustrates me most of all....I have this picture in my head...and I really want to see it in my house. One step at a time....

You also, Beta. I hope you are doing well.

The dog and cat get dried in the dryer...I love that puffball look when they are done...although...the pop-out eyes are disconcerting. Coffee takes a minute and 35 seconds to heat in my microwave...if it has been allowed to get cold....I don't worry about cancer....seems I already have it...lol....I wear safety goggles...when I think I need them...didn't realize I needed them to hammer a stupid nail...or four....I worked with an electrician to pick the recessed lights for the front porch....as for the rest...I'll keep it in mind. First I have to get the gutters replaced from the freezing snow that brought part of them down....lol....life is never boring....

I am doing ok Ari
I should tell the story sometime how I locked myself and, then very pregnant, wife out of our car in the middle of the night at a Denny's restaurant in Indiana. While on a trip to Alabama. Both sets of keys! The spare set was, you guessed it, in her purse in the car. Oh the hormones were flaring that night No, not mine...hers! lol It happens to the best of us Ari lol Oh, and I too can recall sending my son through the kitchen window, because I locked us out lmao I bet it happens to more people that we know.
Bill
