The old man had come by the house a couple of months ago to ask what I was going to do with the appliances at the side of the house. It's a trash pile....I'm just waiting for the city dump day. "Can I have them?" "Of course...if it's in the pile...help yourself." "I'll take that lawn mower, too." "I'm sure you will...it's not available." When he came back to get the appliances, I found him in my garage going through things. He offered to "take all that scrap wood" off my hands. It's brand new and materials I bought for my house. Umm...no...and please do not enter any part of my home without my consent. He left with most of the trash pile. In town they call them "Hold Em and Screw Em"; a pair of old men who own multiple rental properties which they rent for outrageous costs on long-term leases...and even higher prices on short-term. One of them died last year...I'm not sure which one...and the other picked up my trash pile. He showed up again yesterday to offer me $80,000 for my house. "Ummm....it appraised at $120,000." "You won't get that for it while you're working on it." "Probably not, but when I'm done working on it, it will be worth more." "I noticed that man's not around. You're a woman alone and you can't handle this place by yourself. I thought I'd take it off your hands for you." "And leave me owing 20% of the mortgage? I think not. Besides, it's not for sale." "I can go as high as $90,000, but not a penny higher." "And I'm sure you'll rent it out for at least $1,400/month. The house is not for sale and I'd like you to leave, thank you." "Little girl, you can't do this without a man. No woman can." "In your little Mormon mind. I can do anything I set my mind to." "Just look at the yard and tell me that." "You know what...it's not your business....so please leave." "When I come back, I won't offer you so much." "When you come back, it will be trespassing and I'll call the police." He left in a huff. I wonder if I was just held....or screwed? Feel the passion, walk in peace, live in love....Ari

The nerve of some people. I can't believe he said "Little girl, you can't do this without a man. No woman can." He talked to you as if you were a child! You're not a little girl, you're a grown woman for pete's sake! You handled this very well.  Life loves me. I am living happily ever after.

snicker Hi there, lil girl.  You coulda taken a tape measure and showed him your square footage. Oh sorry, as a woman you would't know what that is... A tape measure is this nice little instrument for determing the size of something. But no need to worry your pretty little head about that. Can't help it, I think that's a hoot. Grinning so hard I can't type. Wish I coulda seen your face when he said "No woman could handled this without a man"  Enjoy the ride. All you take with you when you leave is the experience.

Hi Ari, How do you do? Went through the blog. In our part of the world such people are called goons? They do the arm twisting in agonizing way. Often persons with lesser will power wilt under their pressure. Yes! you handled the pressure very well. A lot of love and hugs....... Asif

Keep sticking to your guns, Ari! Every one has rights! Especially the Right to be Treated with Respect and Decency! Keep standing and walking tall! Maybe walk soft and carry a big stick! More action and less talk maybe be needed. Post them "No Trespassing" signs around. George
