My brother is heading this way tomorrow...to spend three days helping me get some of the house done. He's about as experienced as I am...so it should be interesting. He told me to make a list of everything I want to get done in those three days. Hmmmm...the list is two pages long already....how much do you think we'll accomplish?
We're planning to finish the bed I'm building for the guest room. That's my highest priority. After that it's steam cleaning carpets and finishing washing walls...pulling old phone and cable lines....extending phone lines to a couple of rooms that don't yet have them...so I can hook the internet up in them...replacing old outlets...hanging one more piece of drywall in the kitchen...a lot of small jobs that I could do...but I can't do quickly on my own...and I want to at least have the basics of the house finished right away. If he can tackle the electrical and the heavy work...I can focus on finalizing the cleaning...and the steam cleaning and whatever.
I told him to come prepared to work hard for three days....he told me to be prepared to feed him well for three days. Hmmm....I need the practice cooking anyway...but I wonder what he'll say when I make black beans and rice for dinner...vegetarian style. Ok...I won't....but I'll want to.
He should be here when I get home from work tomorrow so I'm leaving the house open for him. Not that this is atypical for me...in a town this size...the only threat is really from the outside. I was reading the Idaho crime statistics the other day....and we had some 17 murders last year in the entire state...none in this town. No rapes here either. It's one of the charms of small town living. Besides...my neighbors are pretty watchful these days...as are my co-workers.
The other day I went to work and a friend came up to my office to find out why there had been a black truck in my driveway. How the heck would I know? I don't know anyone with a black truck.
"Well...your car was there."
My car was there? I didn't have any company. When was it?
"This morning...on my way to work."
Have you lost your mind? I'd know if I had company at 6 a.m.
"Seriously, it was a black truck and it was in your driveway. It backed out right after I passed."
Oh gosh...my paper delivery....they deliver right up to my door cause I took the ugly box off my mailbox pole.
And this is how rumors get started in towns like this. Someone sees something they don't expect to see...and no matter how innocent it is....they still suspect what they suspect. Good thing she bought the story.
Still, it annoys me to have people watching me so closely. I know they are being protective in case my ex shows up again...but I'm a grown woman. Y'all know his white truck...am I like...not supposed to have a life? What if I did have company that morning? Who's business is it of anyone's?
It's an interesting tight-rope you walk between being watched out for because people are worried for your safety...and having your privacy intruded on. No one would judge me for having "company"....but they'd sure want to know all about it. If I had different "company" on different days...they'd sure as shooting have an opinion. And honestly...this is Mormon town....they think I need a man to take care of me...whatever....I take care of me just fine....and it gets better every day. Next time I need a man...it will be because I can't imagine my world without him....not because I need someone to take care of me. That never works anyway.
The reason my brother will be here is that he's delivering some furniture to his ex-mother-in-law in Oregon. Wonder what my neighbors will think when there's a U-Haul parked in front of my house.
Feel the passion, walk in peace, live in love....Ari

Hey. Strange you should talk about being watched 'n stuff. I was thinking only this morning that I love where I live and I'd love it even more if the few houses that surround me were unoccupied. I cannot remember the last time I made my neighbours' business my own, but it seems that everything I do is theirs' to consume..
Ps Why not go wireless in those rooms save running phone cables? Or are you using dial up modems?

Neighbour huh, I had one watch my every move and gossiped to the other neighbours that I had lots of different men in, actually both my partner and my self were night time taxi drivers, hence the different cars.
Another neighbour was so jealous, she used to record me on CCTV, trying to get me into trouble, but she never sucseeded.
Why don't people keep their nose in their own business
Treat me with respect and I'll treat you the same
