The Dad You Didn't Have To Be

When we met it was all so surreal

You accepted this package deal

Me for me, why god knows

But also my , with his runny nose

I've seen changes in our , since you and I became one

You taught him how to ride his bike, two wheels

How proud, I saw him feel

The camping and fishing, how you've made him grow

With each passing day, that I know

The hockey games and coaching you do, makes me proud, through and through

When we met, this all I didn't expect

Your a dad, through and through

My 's dad, that I know too

You love him as yours, which is more than I could have dreamt

Many times seeing you both together, tears fill my eyes

Remembering days long ago, with a sigh

I have a dad, just like you, one I love, through and through

Through the god days and the bad, he'll always be my dad

That I see in you

Youn been his dad, from the get go

You'll be there, throug the good and bad

You are truly........his Dad

The Dad You Didn't Have To Be.

A poem I wrote recently, for my husband. Seeing all he's done with and for my is wonderful. Anyone can father a , but it takes someone special to be a Dad.

So lovely to recognize, acknowledge AND appreciate how fortunate you both are. Sounds as if you hit the jackpot!
