Men - question

Men - I got a dilemma. When men contact me on FF, I asked questions, fun questions, to start a conversation as a means to get to know him. Often, men get offended and hostile toward my questions. My questions might include "do you like sports?", "briefs or boxers?" and "what college did you attend?" Now how else would you start a conversation? ESP.

 If you just ask questions it may feel like an interogation. And shouldn't there be a bit of a give and take? Do you for instance say I like this kind of music what kind do you like.
