The worst of human behaviour...........

MOZAMBIQUE BURNS WORLD'S BIGGEST RHINO HORN SEIZURE IN DEMONSTRATION AGAINST POACHING...............

Ministers from Mozambique, on Monday. burned the world's largest seizure of rhino horns in a public stand against wildlife poaching ,,,,,,,,STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION ,,,,,,,,CHINA AND VIETNAM ,,,EXPLOITERS OF IVORY........

Recently there was a poaching crises that saw a dramatic decline in the nations elephant population. Survey shows the number of elephants have dropped 48% in just the last five years, from as little as 20,000 to just around 10,300.

Rhinos, on the other hand, have faced extinction back to 2013. Mozambique's rhino population had been wiped out by hunters over a century ago. The nation is stepping up its efforts to curb poaching and put an end to its reputation as a trafficking route for illegal trade. Mozambique police recently confiscated 1,3 tons of ivory and rhino horns which made up part of the seizure that was destroyed .

"Today sends a signal," said Officials from Mozambique, "we will not tolerate poachers, traffickers and the organised criminals which employ and pay them to kill our wildlife and threaten our communities"

A total amount of 5,370 pounds of ivory and rhino horn pieces were destroyed. The stand taken by Mozambique today gives us hope in South Africa. zero tolerance to poaching.

Just under a month ago, the U.S. conservationists destroyed more than one ton of ivory in Times Square to declare their stance against wildlife crime.

In March, Kenya also burned 15 tons of ivory with a promise to destroy the rest of its confiscated stockpile,

All of this has led many to question the logic behind destroying so much seized ivory.
Destruction while largely symbolic also ensures that the stock won't find its way back to traffickers and sends a load message, that the supply will no longer be tolerated as a viable commercial product.

"These poor creatures have no voice, but can you and I not speak for them and represent them?"
"let us all feel their silent cry of agony and let us all help that cry to be heard in the world"
