Vel, Vel, Vetri, Vel Muruga!!!!!

A new year, new beginnings.
January 2015 marks the flag raising - Thai Poosam Kavady.

Each year thousands of Hindus gather around temples in Durban and Johannesburg to observe the Kavady Festival in worship of Lord Muruga, a deity in Hinduism.

It's a Hindu festival and tradition that was carried over from our motherland " INDIA"

As humans, we are bound to commit sins and we need to better ourselves and create harmony within and among ourselves.
In order to do this, we need to pinpoint our wrongs and recognise our wrong doings, we need to confess and be willing to repent for our sins.

A vow to carry the Kavady is an admission of our sins and a willingness to change.
Many also.devote this spiritual time to illnesses. A vow to good health.

I have also started my fasting today, flag raising was held today.
Kavady in South Africa Is held twice a year. But family members who visited south India saw Kavady being held at any month there.
