Shri Vadakkunnathan temple, Trissur, Kerala, India wins UNESCO Award-2015.

UNESCO selected Shri Vadakkunnathan temple in Trissur in the South Indian state of Kerala for its Award of Excellence for the year 2015, for the remarkable conservation efforts it has put in. It is the top prize in Asia Pacific Heritage award group . for cultural heritage conservation. The citation says that this Hindu temple employed age old rituals and conservation techniques drawn from vastu shasta focusing on architecture and construction ensuring the spirit of the place resonate through out the site.

Few years back I visited this temple on my way to Guruvayoor and this place is known for the famous colourful PURAM festival where decorated elephants steal the show.
