Digital eye strain or Computer vision syndrome : Most common health complaint of 21st Century.


Be warned, excessive staring at cell phones, ipads, computers, laptops and digital cameras, may end up you with blurred vision due to digital eye strain that is otherwise known as Computer vision syndrome. When one views digital media devices in close range , thousands of pixels that make up the content you read and watch are not as visually simplified as say solid lines and shapes that characterise printed text.
Ophthalmologists say viewing a computer screen in close range strains the eyes and cause the ciliary muscles of the eyes work most and make them exhausted.
Here are few tips to address this issue.
* Blink regularly, follow 20-20-20 rule. Take a 20 second break every 20 minutes and look at something 20 feet away.
* The viewing angle should not exceed 35 degrees.
* Dont be a night bird as your pupils dilate more to to let more light enter them.
* View smart phones below eye level at a distance of 12 inches to the eye.
* Use few apps like f.lux , Screen Shade etc which warm up systems at night to match indoor lightening.
* Keep ambience light dim to match your device light at night.
* A back rest supports spine , straightens posture.
* Viewing distance should be at arm length away.

Rajive. sitting in front of computer regularly can cause many problems . the best is to take break after 30 minutes, blink your eyes more often than regular and close your eyes for few seconds .
