NurseARUNA R SHANBAUG ,R*** victim,face of passive anesthesia breaths her last after 42years in coma MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE. Aruna Ramachandra Shanbaug, the nurse of KEM Hospital, Mumbai, India who was brutalised and RA** by Sohanlal Bharta Valmiki, a sweeper of the hospital, that choked her with a chain and sodomised her on November 23, 1973, resulting in her going to coma due to stoppage of blood supply to her brain; breathed her last this monday at 8.30 AM due to pneumonia. Let us join together in praying for her soul to rest in peace. She had virtually none to take care of her; though she had a sister who died in 2013, but her relatives stopped visiting her after some time; so the hospital and nurses took charge of her and housed her in the same hospital where she was brutally assaulted and RA** An activist lawyer Pinki Virani filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking euthanasia that was rejected by the apex court in March 2011; with the hospital and nurses opposing it. Her assailant Valmiki served a 7 year sentence for attempted murder and robbery, but sodomy was not disclosed as an official deleted some of the medical findings. At the time of assault, she was engaged to a resident doctor Sundeep Sardesai who waited for her to recover for 4 years, but later got married. But acting on this petition, the apex court legalised passive euthanasia ( withdrawing medical treatment to allow death to occur) in 2011, but with strict guidelines to see it is not abused.
