NRI doctors will soon be permitted to practice in India.

Hitherto Non Resident Indian doctors are not entitled to practice medicine in India, though they are permitted to work as teaching faculty, in research or in management. Keeping in view of the shortage of 1.7 million doctors in India; the India Medical Association is going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin to facilitate their short stint in India. The Govt of India is likely put up a draft policy on this in public domain in the first week of January 2015.

It is a win-win, though belated, never too late.
