Hindu holy place vandalised by Pakistan-Growing iconoclasm, blasphemy and religious intolerance.

The dubious record of Pakistan in vandalising Hindu holy and religious places which have hundreds of years of existence, is growing leaps and bounds. The present incident occurred in the outskirts of Hyderabad, in the Sindh province of Pakistan where a Hindu temple is vandalised by masked men late Thursday, that lead to the protests by Hindu community. In this incident the idol and religious books were burnt, with witnesses seeing 4 masked men.

This ongoing saga of arson, blasphemy, iconoclasm, destruction of Hindu temples, religious books tell a lot on the continued religious intolerance, not only by the citizens, by also state actors like Pakistan police, army and other authorities. In a similar incident on March 28 this year, a temple was torched in Fateh Chowk, Hyderabad.

I cite here under few such ugly incidents.
* Pakistan army razed Ram Kali temple in East Pakistan on March 27, 1971
Dhakeshwari temple that was destroyed in war is being used by Pakistan to store ammunition from that time.
* The last of the Lahore Hindu temples was razed by Pakistan authorities and built a multistoried building in 2005.
* In May 2012, Lord Shiva temple was vandalised in Khyber area of Peshawar.
* In 2005, about 300 to 500 muslims ransacked a Hindu temple in Nowshera.
* On March 16, 2014, a temple was vandalised in Larkhana, on 18th in Hyderabad and on 31st in Tharparkar district.
* A 160 year old Lord Shiva temple was destroyed in Peshawar.
* On Sept 21, 2012, Lord Krishna temple was destroyed in Karachi.

Pakistan government and citizens conveniently ignored the words of Jinnah who did not want minorities to be perished, but he advocated protecting them.

Will there be an end to this? Will Modi take up this issue as priority and seek intervention of his Pakistan counterpart, use diplomatic means to end this mania?
