KHAP Panchayat bans jeans and mobiles in 46 villages in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Another barbaric, illogical, insensitive, inhumane and illegal decree from KHAP Panchayat in Muzaffarnagar district of North indian state of Uttar Pradesh, that bans wearing jeans, using internet for facebook, WhatsApp and even mobiles saying that jeans are spoiling the society and environment and they are part of British culture. Chaudhary Naresh, leader of the Panchayat said it came in to force in 46 villages.

It came in for a sharp criticism from Unioon Minority Minister Nazma Heptulla who said that the Panchayat Councils should be banned by concerned government; besides the National Council for women and social activists.

KHAP Panchayats are union of 84 villages, with the leaders, mostly from rich communities pass orders of this kind, some times even honour killings, which came in for a sharp criticism by Supreme Court even, but the state governments that have authority on them turn Nelsons eye for reasons of vote bank politics.
