India set to beat US as the second largest internet market

According to a report by Internet and Mobile Association of India and IMRB International; the number of Internet users in India is expected to grow 32% to 302 million this year, from 213 million end of December last year, which is likely to go up to 354 million by June next. At present China leads with 600 million, followed by US with 279 million. So India will surpass US by end 2014, to be in second position and it shows Internet is the mainstream in India. Of the present 278 million users at present are, 177 million are from urban areas and the number of mobile internet users stand at 159 million. Search, online communication, social networking and entertainment are the most primary sought out reasons, though the choice varies from one to the other.

Tells a lot both on putting latest technology to best use as well as addiction, with 1 and 4 Indians going after Internet.
