India part of the World's largest ever nuclear energy project worth over $ 20 billion.

After the Mission to Mars; yet another feather in the cap of the scientific R&D of India; with India being roped in to a massive the largest ever global nuclear energy project in Southern France, the first state-of-art nuclear reactor to produce clean energy by fusing atoms, like that happens on the Sun.

The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) brings together India, China, South Korea, USA, Japan, Russia and the European Union to be part of this prestigious project whose estimated budget runs over $20 billion. It is worth noting that these countries constitute half of the global human population and accounts for two thirds of global economic might.

This reactor weighs 23,000 tons as much as 3 times of the weight of the Eiffel Tower and about 80,000 kms of special super conducting wires go for this making. This reactor will have nuclear research work imbibed to produce any hazardous nuclear waste but only helium, a noble gas or water, using fusion energy or ever green atomic energy. By next year, the team will be able to come out with a firm dead line on the completion of this project.

India is providing one tenth of the components needed for this massive nuclear complex unfolding at Cadarache, France, besides Rs 9000 crores, roughly one tenth of the project cost; which in all likely hood be the largest refrigerator by 2021. Once it is in place, the world can harvest energy directly from the Sun and India can for fusion reactors in due course.

A well thought out global initiative, well done.
