Two Indian-American CARDIOLOGISTS asked to pay US$ 3,80,000 to resolve fraud charges.

Satybrata Chattarji and Ashwani Anand of Kentucky, US, the Indian-American cardiologists who jointly owned a hospital that provided cardiology services have agreed to pay US$ 3,80,000 to resolve allegations that they violated the false claim act by entering in to shame management agreements with Saint John Hospital in exchange for the referral of cardiac procedures and health care services. Besides, the hospital was asked to pay $16.5 million to the US government to compensate the sham claim.

As per US False Claims Act, private person whistle blowers are permitted to file law suits on behalf the government in such sham claims and this revelation has been brought to fore by some such.

All countries including India need such stringent laws to deal with such who lack professional ethics and integrity, as such practices from doctors amount to playing with human lives.

Some of these Indo-American are becoming a bane to the whole community. When ample choices exist for cardiologists to earn royally and legally, why indulge in such malpractices that endanger their career and life?
Well done whistle blowers who brought this to logical conclusion. Great.
